I was coaching my son's team. Thankfully there are only two more Saturdays to come, then I shall return to my rightful place on a Saturday morning.

Now, IF that was true, why would that be then? ;)

Much respect to you Livi. Some of us on here remember when Lancaster City were the biggest team in the area.

Just out of interest, how many other recognised English cities dont have a Football League club?

Me and Doris were enjoying pre-match, match and post-match in Pompey's famous old pubs.
We'll be doing the same in Istanbul next week.

Oxford? Cambridge? Salisbury? Chester? York? That's five in the Conference alone! Do I win 5x£5?

I can only think of Bath below the Blue Square Premiership. Lancaster City must be one of, if not the lowest placed 'City' in English football.

So how did that work out then?

According to the list of English cities on.... http://www.ukcities.co.uk/ ....there may be several more. There are certainly some pretty obscure ones that I never knew were cities. Doubt the likes of Ely, Truro, Wells or Ripon have teams that play at a "decent" standard.

Oh yeah... its a right laugh!
Anyway, presuming you`re in the Morecambe area, ie further north than Wigan, my winter nights actually are slightly shorter than yours ;) 8-)

Wells could come under Bath (the diocese of Bath & Wells)
Ely is in Wales so that doesn't count either! (I had to look on Google Maps!)

Certainly one of the biggest cities to be playing so low down. As Mark said, some of us remember when Lancaster were the biggest town in the area, now they're not big enough to be worth sending our reserves to on loan. Which is sad. Still, at least it isn't too far to travel for League football.

Just got back this morning from the holiday paradise of Bali.
I overstayed my visa (7 of us did my mistake) by 1 day they wanted RPI 1,000,050.00 (US$140.00) I didin't have enough so the Immigration guy took all my money and told me not to tell anyone.

The Ely that is a City is in Cambridgeshire, not that far away from Newmarket and Bury St. Edmunds. Tiny place, but a really nice part of the World if you ever get the chance to visit. The Cambridge University Rowing team is based there.

Stockport County & Man Utd are both within walking distance of the city boundary so we'll give them those!
