M5 blocked at Bristol - travelling to Torquay???

M5 blocked at Bristol - travelling to Torquay???

Postby sgt major » Fri Oct 16, 2009 9:08 am

Anyone going to Torquay today watch out on the M5.

Just heard on the radio that it is blocked both ways from Jnt 17 to 22 and could be blocked all day.

I used to live down there and to be honest it is going to be a nightmare for anyone trying to get to Torquay today as that is the natural way to drive there.

My alternative route is the M6, M42, M40, A34 (Oxford bye-pass) then join the A303 past Newbury. When you get to Illminster cut across to the M5 at Taunton.

Please pass this message onto the club if you can.

That's really helpful - thanks Mick.

I think the officials are flying but I'll let Rod know.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

.....not a Saga Tour by any chance?

Are the team flying down or is it just the Directors? :?:

Also if travelling by train, call before you set off as most trains are being delayed throughout the day due to an incident earlier today, for which I got stuck in going to Blackburn.

Radio says they are getting southbound lane open but still beware the backlash of this sort of incident round Bristol tends to last all day.

I understand it was on the Blackpool line, Sam, so shouldn't have affected anyone from round here. ;)
