Team to tame the Shrews

Team to tame the Shrews

Postby Heysham_Shrimp » Thu Oct 01, 2009 11:26 am

Changes for the game on Saturday . I would re-instate Moss if fit/well against his former team. Also play our best midfielder IMHO Craig Stanley. I thought Parrish did really well on Tuesday so if Arts/Adams/Haining are injured I would start him.

Roche

Moss Parrish Bentley Wilson

Duffy Stanley Drummond Twiss

Mullin Jevons

subs
Davies
McStay
Hunter
Poole
Taylor

5-4-1

---------------Roche---------------
-----------------------------------
-----McStay--Bentley--Parrish------
Stanley-----------------------Wilson
---------Drummond--Craney-------
----Jevons----------------Twiss---
--------------BIG FELLA-----------

id have Haining & Artell but both are injured and id give Stanley a go at the wing back role he's comfortable on the ball and as loads of energy

Hope your wrong cos Wayne hasn't got the pace for that position , Gary Hunter had 2 good games there and he should play there again . Parrish should have another chance at left bk but Wilson needs to track back and help him which he didn't do on Tuesday in first half. The biggest problem i have noticed is our lack of stamina in the second half against Rochdale, Notts Co and Bradford, all our midfield players seem to struggle and thats why the defence has been put under so much pressure . Maybe if they had a crack at goal sometimes (with some power please ) instead of trying to walk the ball into the net , they might conserve a bit of energy.

I Wonder Why I find that so funny?

So you'd have Hunter at right wingback and who in midfield? Stanners? - That's what I thought he'd do as soon as Panther was injured.

On the issue of players running out of stamina - that's why I keep saying I'd take Craney off after 70 minutes for Duffy and also bring Twissy on then, either in midfield as well or for Jevons. I'd do it whatever was happening in the game, just to get fresh legs on BEFORE our stamina problem costs us a goal.

But it's a hard call to make when the team isn't losing, I suppose.

top quality stuff
parrish is better right side of jim and give assistance to wayno and restore danny in there at left side of centre three with wilson who has a great engine down that left side
stew and garry work well together in that midfield
if you bring stanley in you drop craney imho

But if we did get those fresh legs on sooner maybe we would be winning. ;) .Panther is a big loss and there is nobody else who can break up attacks and move the ball about like he does.Totally agree about Duffy, who needs to prove himself after not turning his pre-season form into league form and Twissy who was just getting his confidence back and showing some old form deserves longer.

Curtis was the least effective player against Bradford the other night, he just hoofed the ball forward nearly everytime, and didn't have it in him to bring the ball forward and basically play football

in my opinion id never play him in that postion again unless we had major injury problems. although Hunter can play that role well

thats your opinion but its rubbish
but he did far more than that and worked hard for the team all night
as he did at dagenham
hes doing a job for the team in a makeshift role how many times have we see him do that like garry?
same again saturday please but with our front two scoring goals

Wouldn't say your opinion was rubbish Sean because we all have differant ones and i haven't had that pint yet :D , but like i said Wayne hasn't got the pace for that position and when he got forward he never looked up to see who was around , just crossed the ball into an empty void . Hunter had 2 really good games in that position and if something works dont change it. Its only my opinion but i would have -

........ Roache.........

Hunter......Parrish/McStay......Bentley........Wilson

........Stanley.......Drummy......Craney

.........Jevons.......Mullin.........Twissy

Although I've said what I think the team WILL be, my very slight preference would be for Gary to revert to right wingback (if we're not going to drag Wainwright back) and Stanners to take his place in the middle.

I'd stay with 5-3-2 because I want Wilson as far forward as possible.

If it is to be 4-4-2 then I'd have Danny at left back and Wilson left midfield.

Wayne contributes a lot to the squad but I'm not happy with him in that particular position.

I can't argue against Jevons and Mullin starting up front (if we keep getting goals from them) but Twissy has played well enough to get at least 20 minutes each game IMO.

In my opinion, if we can keep the score 0-0 and then score one, we'll win!
Get over it ;)
