They were bad. I suppose you might say they were trying to avoid any injuries prior to the season starting ; but that ain't true. They were well beaten and it could of been a lot worse. Howe & Holroyd were impressive , but little else to get excited about. I think they [Kendal] looked sharp & fit - a decent outfit IMO.

from where we were sat the suspicion was that most of them playuing tonight had realised they were not part of the frontline squad so could not be bothered whatever a totally dismal night out
quite disturbing in view of the money they are getting, cannot see these people worrying about the credit crunch and trying to pay rocketing utility and food bills

I just read the thread topic and thought, ah well, Sammy put out a second team - but then I read the team - oh! , what`s going on? I hope they play better than that on Saturday.

You might be right ? But you'd think that suspecting you were'nt part of the 'frontline squad' would spur you on to put extra effort in - have a hell of a game 100% and make management notice you - thats what I would do anyway. It was'nt pretty on the eye or ear at times I'll say that much. Thats the first PS friendly Kendal have won , if you discount the Barrow game when they were 3-2 up match abandoned after 85 mins due to a serious injury to a Barrow player. They lost 4-0 to Carlisle.

Thought that Howe and Holroyd looked very good, sharp strikers, just what we need.

The sending off was as a result of a poor back pass from McStay and to be fair it was all downhill from then on. To say they missed a sitter and a pen, it could easily have been 5 or 6.

Sad to say but Twiss and Curtis looked very poor. An embarrasing defeat.

Still Kendal Asda had bags of carrots for 5p so the evening was not all bad!

Is it true that if you feed a footballer carrots on a regular basis that it improves their vision?

Now I know why our goalkeeper kit is all orange!

It's so that our defence know where the hell he is.

Pity Henry didn't realise that last night!

Are we trying to find another position for mccann, hopeless at right back and no better right side of midfield. Then again a dismal performance by nearly all, twiss totally out of sorts, only rene howe can escape any flak.A truly bad performance against a side who lost their last game 5-0 against kitsgrove(i think)Some may say only a friendly but with the side we put out we should have beaten kendal.

Call it a kick up the arse, a reality check or whatever, this result is really no bad thing. (Albiet a bit embarressing! ) Pre-season results have been in pretty good and I think some fans might be expecting too much too soon of a team that is 'work in progress'.

Without Bentley in the team we lack leaders on the pitch. Can't remember us falling apart too often when he has been playing.

It seems like some players either have lost the heart or the legs to play for a football league team. Our squad is quite large with pretty much 2 players for every position. But if they are not pushing hard for a starting position then Sammy should ship them out sooner rather than later.

At the end of the day its just a friendly and the REAL football starts on Saturday. :D

Please everyone - take a reality check.

If anyone thinks this performance represents how we will perform on Saturday then you need brain surgery.

It was an arranged friendly to give all our fringe players a run out, our first team (less Roache, Howe and Adams) were all at home watching Sky TV and champing at the bit to get going against Wycombe.

Yes, losing to lower opposition is bad but that pitch (oh how I wish my hair could get as long as the grass), and the attrocious conditions wasnt going to make for a good performance.

BTW - worth the entry fee to see Rene Howe to get a glancing header from a cross - when was the last time we scored a goal like that then????

rene howe (who i'd not seen play until yesterday) was the one bright spark in an otherwise poor evening, thought he looked top class, great skill and pace as well as being a big lad.

kendal missed a couple of sitters and a pen, although in general i thought they played well. the weather and long grass definately made a difference though (i think contributed to their 2d, the short backpass).

nice burger though :D

I think the only thing to be taken from last nights performance is that Howe is going to be just what the doctor ordered and that the team we saw against Carlisle first half + Howe is the team we'll see against Wycombe come Saturday.

whos chris adams and henry mcstanley.....
decent clubhouse and beer
oh and the chance of reliving some of that non league stuff we used to like!!!!

ok we lost noone got injured and when tackles flying in stew had a word with the ref
ref should have asked for a sub for scotty i thought
red card was daft in a preseason game

credit kendal thought they rose to the occasion and played really well and good luck to them

roll on wycombe!!!!

Reason the Scott was red carded and not asked to leae the field was that the ref was being assessed for future up grade and had to go by the rule book.

Something wrong when you get sent off for a questionale offence when some of thier tackles could have resulted in serious injury but ref did nothing.

Makes me wonder on reflection if our lads didn't put 100% into the game for fear of injury?

The red card incident arose due to a shocking kick from Scott which went straight to Alex Taylor about 30 yards out.
We had defenders covering behind the keeper so probably should have been yellow card.

Is Michael Howard injured? If not, then I wonder why he didn't get a run out or at least on the bench?

Worse still the decision means that Scott is now suspended for up to three games. Yes that's what I thought too and yes cards in friendlies now count apparently. Apparently we're looking for a loan keeper for the next few games while Scotty sits it out.

Just a pity that our goalkeeping coach Lee Jones plays for Nantwich.

One goalkeeper who is available is Edgey's son, having been released by Blackpool.
Not sure of his whereabouts at the moment but surely could be a sub for the 3 games...worth thinking about?
