End of season party

Like me I'm sure everybody connected with the club is looking forward to the move to the new stadium. But before then we should be giving some thought to an end of an era party. I'm sure that the Board have their own thoughts because we can't let the final day at CP go without a fitting farewell.

Looking through the paper yesterday I noticed that Status Quo are undertaking yet another nationwide tour. I wonder if the Quo would be an attraction to everybody young and 'not so' old? Certainly a Uni favourite that's for sure.

Obviously their fee and everything else involved in an outdoor concert involves expenditure but by charging say £10 surely their would be enough interest region wise to cover the costs?

Support group(s) could feature local bands, at least one of which includes a Shrimps fan and often plays at Bootleggers in Kendal.

Any thoughts?

I doubt you would get away with an outdoor concert because of the location of Christie Park to residential property and the amplification of voice and instrumental music and audience response as this can result in excessive and even offensive noise at neighbouring premises. I think the board would need to apply for licence because of zone noise under the Environment Protection Act. It is something to do with the noise trigger level and I'm not sure what level it is set at but the greater the amount by which noise exceeds the noise trigger level, the greater the environmental harm caused.
I recently went to an outdoor 80'/90's event attended by 10,000 and although it was a good night the music was reasonably quiet and hundreds were shouting for it to be louder but they couldn't as they were restricted by the act.
Party poopers yes but to be honest I wouldn't like to live next to it!

Have you approached the Quo's management to see if they'd be interested and at what price?

Such a party wouldn't need to be at CP, but other than Morecambe arena, I can't really think of anywhere that would be able to host such an event without being in at least a semi-residential area.

How about a local band like 24/7 or Halfway House - great sounds, they are local and many of the members of each group actually support Morecambe.

As support bands YES...but would they entice a decent crowd from the region and beyond to attend? I think not.

do they? I don't think they would appeal to many if any in there 20's. I'm 29 and they woldn't appeal to me or any of my friends maybe if I was in my 40's and upwards.

The Bottlenecks are a great local band if anyone saw them at heysham a couple of months ago.

Don't go knocking the Quo I saw them at Silverstone a couple of years ago after the F1 race they were quality. I don't mind them but was not a massive fan but after seeing them they could teach the artists of today a thing or two.

So many quick to put the idea down.....but so few to come up with alternative suggestions.

Why do we have to when the original idea is bonkers? For an event which might not even happen in the way you imagine?

I couldn't give a hoot about Status Quo, don't see why we need to have a band with no affinity to the club to make some kind of statement at our end of Christie party.

What I'd really like to see is a comedy show of all your bonkers suggestions and ideas. Who's bringing the water?

To be honest - we don't need a massive group to get folk in the party mood. It's the last game at Chrisite - people will be there who want to be there and something local would be a fine gesture by the club in supporting those from the area.

The idea of a late do in the York sounds fine Mr Punk - I'll get submitting the late licence straight away
