People who do the Lottery are being exployted . It is all a con and should be abolished. Gambling addiction has increased since the introduction of the Lottery. It is time a caring government abolished this unfair means of making selected individuals rich just becasue they selected a few numbers. I am totally against gambling so I would take this view but please do not joke about the Lottery.

the lottery should never be banned! yes the owners (and other people who gain alot of money from this) pocket alot of money from it...
however the amount of money that is invested into the grassroots levels all around Europe is huge. Most grassroots clubs, such as Morecambe Youth, Westgate and Bare Rangers get plenty of money from the LFA, whom get money from the Lottery..
the same is said for McDonalds. yes it is a main cause for obesity, but they try and put it back into football and other sports....

and where would we be without grassroots football in 10 years time???
I can win a game of connect four in three moves ;)

How exactly are they being exploited? It's an individual's own choice as to whether or not they buy a ticket. Why should we have the choice taken away?

As another 'regular contributor' to this forum commented, as I purchased a ticket, "the lottery is a tax on the stupid".

And he's right. To pay out the money used on 'good causes', not to mention the slice that the government take directly, abolishing the lottery would result in taxes going up further. That would be a more honest way of doing things perhaps but if you can have a tax that people enjoy paying, then why not? Yes there will be some people who will become addicted, however, I'd argue that if it wasn't the lottery, it would be another form of gambling that they would become addicted to, so banning it wouldn't help them either.

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

I suspect so - probably a mate of Patrick St Peter, or jason anderton. Very similar style.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
