the problem with them is how do other people around the ground not know your smoking? therefore rightly to stop other fans from getting annoyed and disgruntled they prob asked you to stop.

You could just wait till the end of the game like everyone else!! i am sure you could not use in a pub or public place, check the net i believe they are still classed as smoking and therefore carry a court date and fines!!!!

That would be apart from the people whp go "hide" behind the North Stand toilets at half time having a "crafty fag".

I'm sorry but I for one don't like having to run the gauntlet of these smokers to get to the toilet.

If there isn't a need to emit anything, other than 'for effect', why bother? Why not just give people their nicotine hit without affecting anyone at all?

the stewards know that people smoke next to the north stand toilets, but dont do anything because they are smokers as well. if you go to the toilet at half time there is that much smoke about you would think the toilets were on fire.

Being a social smoker and keen football fan I think we need to try and accommodate smokers at football matches - for a lot of fans it's thier weekly treat where they can go and enjoy the game (sometimes), have a few beers with mates and a smoke if they so desire. Not being able to smoke inside grounds I think is unfair - fair enough in the stand and indoors or in encolsed spaces but outdoors in designated areas - where is the harm in that?

One of the biggest problems is enforcement - funny that you could stand outside the bar yet well inside the ground with a beer and a fag at Burton and at Chester the other year they actualy opened the gates and let you go outside for a smoke - I understand non smokers hate everything about smoking but I don't particulalry like paying up to £20 to watch a game, £3 for a programme, £2.50 for a pie, £3 a pint to listen to people swearing thier heads offs and then be told you can't have a cigarette and its like being back at school sneaking behind the bike sheds

I want to stand up - I want a pint at half time - I want a fag at half time with my pint - I want to support my team - I pay my money like everyone else so I don't think this is too much to ask and if more clubs took Burton's attitude perhaps stewards could concentrate on the really important part of thier jobs rather than skulking around the bogs trying to catch people smoking.
