Chesterfield 1 Morecambe 1

Something I did notice was how the "multiball" system was in operation today. In fact it was the same last year there.

I don't think this system should be allowed at competitive football matches, it's a mockery.

When they were in front the ball never came near, but when drawing and it was their throw or goal kick sometimes the ball was being thrown on before the ball was off the pitch.

Yet our players, had to go to retrieve the ball several times during the game :!:

Cheating, there's no other word for it, in my opinion.

Definitely chesterfield but can't remember if it was last year or the year before, the ref stopped the multiball because it wasn't consistent.

agreed

with the multiball system balls appear like magic when the home team is losing or drawing.
when the home team is winning it looks like there is only one ball in the stadium !

we tried him a few times in pre-season there, and he looked unhappy to isolated, i think he prefers full/wing back

Roche - 8. Several good saves to keep us in it.
Moss - 5. Made a few mistakes but was obviously out of position.
Adams - 6. Decent, no nonsense performance.
Artell - 7. Good game, making interceptions and winning headers.
Bentley - 7. Kept Lester quiet.
Wilson - 8. Was great pushing forward and threatened with his crosses.
Panther - 8. Won tackles, brought the ball forward. An all action performance.
Drummond - 6. Quiet but spread it around a bit in a game where we otherwise struggled to make space.
Craney - 7. Got bogged down in the centre but looked dangerous when pushed wide in second half.
Twiss - 7. Again, didn't have much space to work in but showed some flashes of quality.
Jevons - 6. Struggled as a target man as usual but took the pen well and came close with a shot hitting the bar.

If we get Duffy back and bring in Mullin for next saturday, we'll be great. In the first half, we only had Moss and Wilson sitting deep to provide width so we had to concentrate through the middle without a target man which = attacks falling apart. In the second half, we got the ball out wide and forced the penalty. With Mullin, we'll be able to let Jevons play the way he wants and Duffy will get down that right flank to provide some service into the box which is obviously what worked for us in the second half today. Apart from that, the defence was good and the midfield worked well. Maybe its finally clicking?

......your team would then be???????????

Only 3 recognised defenders....with Wilson and Duffy as wing backs. Interesting.

What happens when Haining returns?

To bring in Mullin ( ) who do we get rid of, 'cause we can't otherwise?

To bring a target man in whoever it is and yesterday showed how we are crying out for one I would loan out any 2 of the following:

Wayne Curtis
Garry Hunter
Henry McStay

I agree we were a lot better yesterday and deserved our point. SUPER~MANny Panther was awesome as he made up 5 yards on their left back, relieved him of the ball and stuck in the cross that gained us the penalty :D

Anyway pre match people were itching to get going :o

Yep, that'd be my team - though possibly with Craney playing further forward.

Much improved performance yesterday I thought, we created some really good chances and were 6 inches off finishing 3 of them, but we don't look like a team yet IMO, it may be subconscious as we have 3 first teamers that aren't really ours, but we need to have a couple more 'partnerships' like Bentley and Artell if we're to push on.

Proves what the league table means at this stage of the season - we only got a point and may have dropped a couple of places this time 6 months ago but we moved up 2 :D

I see Roche got in team of the week in the paper yesterday that should shut the Chesterfield fans up who give him stick.

What was their goal like from the quick clib I saw in the pub on Saturday night it looked a bit sloppy.

if you look at the clip that I have put on here under the title Chesterfield v Morecambe video highlights it will show that Jack Lester knew very little about it, he rather got in the way of a shot that may have been going wide and it gave Barry no chance.
