Fairly spot on I would say.

I would however have to pick on a couple of points. The second season syndrome thing is a myth. Look at Hereford last year, 2nd year in the league and they got promoted!

If he's going to take issue with the fact that us being crap for the 2nd half of last season is an indication of how we are going to do this year then he surely can't hold up Carl Baker in the same light that he has done as his huge drop off in form from December onwards was arguably the main reason why our form dipped.

If we are lucky with injuries I can see Rene getting 15 goals for us, Blinks about 10 and O'Carroll somewhere around that as well so I don't think goals are going to be a problem. I'm much more worried about the other end of the pitch!

I agree with most thing apart from:
Overall, I suspect things will be a touch worse for Morecambe this time round, mainly due to the fact that the players leaving Christie Park aren't as good as the players who have arrived there.
the player that have come in are just as good as the ones that have left

I think it's a fair and reasonable assessment from the outside looking in.

However, the side that got us through last season was, in essance, the Conference winning side. Sammy clearly gave those players a chance to prove themselves at a higher level. I think the general comings and goings of players has resulted in a more solid and durable side that can cope better with a full season of league football.

It's true that teams will be more ready for us this season, but I think that we will also be more ready for them.

The "News of the World" see us being 8th. That would do :-

Yes 8th would be nice but then we'd be disappointed we had'nt made the play-offs

Cant believe Burys hopes rely on Mr. T :o

The NOTW is strange, they seem to have missed a few clubs and positions out. Maybe we need to guess where the clubs they've missed out are going to finish.

Correct! So on that basis here goes:

3rd Darlington
11th Exeter
16th Notts County
20th Accrington
24th Luton

not in my notw they are as follows

darlo 11th
Exeter 20th
Notts County 3rd
Accrington 16th
Luton 24th

interesting that they have Roth 22nd Bourn 23rd and Luton 24th, or just hedging there bets with possible point deductions

I think a good start early on is essential if we loose the first 2 or 3 matches I think Morale will quickly go down-look at the end of last season. With a good start I think we could be top 10, still think we are short of midfilder who can score though

they might be assuming Luton don't finish the season?

Does look odd, because the positions are there (ie missing numbers)

So how did that work out then?

It does matter how we start the season. If we get a poor start to the season we will always be playing catch up. The more points we drop the further away the top teams get. A good start is crucial.

It would be natural to be a little dissapointed especially if we get close and just miss out, but there's expecting to reach playoffs and there's wanting to reach playoffs as long as it's the latter you won't be too dissapointed - if that makes sense.

10th would be ok but I think a litle lower would be more realistic.

I think that we will get a n other defender, midfielder and striker in January and, with a good start to the season and new competition for places, we will be able to carry on through the new year and finish 7th, loosing in the semi-finals of the play-offs to Darlington on penalties at 'the arena'...or am I just being silly 8-)
