Enough Qaulity?

Enough Qaulity?

I like most others I thought that we had strengthened the squad and it looks good "on paper” I really think we have significantly more quality all over the park than last year. I think this blip will sort itself out, although the lack of commitment in defence in tackling- including Hainning is a worry, I previously commented after pre-season about our “dodgy defence” and lack of a clean sheet. Cleary the club is determined to stay up, and I assume Sammy's request to bolster the midfield has been listened to. Last year I think we flattered ourselves in finishing 11th as this was earned with blood sweat and tears, and the most consistent team came about as a result of a lack of manpower to choose from, but we really got it together as a unit. This year we have more options, although not up front as we are thin on the ground if Jevons is unfit. I think sometimes Sammy is not sure of what is best team is and I think that this is the case at the moment, although some players obviously will pick themselves others need a run out to get a place.

I tend to agree that we have enough quality in the squad. The forward line is a bit worrying if we do get injuries, of which in reality i suppose we have with Curtis out and Taylor warming the bench at Barrow (unreal take somebody on loan and not play them). Good to see Twiss is gaining some confidence and form.
Regarding the defence this is an area of strength and will come good over the season. The signing of Panther will further strengthen the team and i am sure we will play our loan player!
We are awash with good midfield players and it is just a matter of time before that areas gels and the team starts climbing the league. That will hopefully begin tonight with a strong performance against Barnet and after Saturday i am sure we will get at least a draw!

I just fear that the signing of Panther is more of a panic buy than anything else. By all accounts he's not a defensive player which in light of the injuries to Fraser and the continuing problems of Gaz I would have thought was of greater importance. It might well be that Drummy plays just in front of the defence which I've already suggested may ultimately be his role irrespective of the current situation. However, I would have prefered to have seen extra cover up front and it may be that this area will see an addition in the near future. The size of our squad and therefore the wage bill must be of a worry and I'd expect to see outward movements in the near future.

If panther is not a defensive player what is he.

coz 4 goals in 116 games is no good

I wonder if Simon farnworth will use his contacts and see if we can get some kid on loan from liverpool, I'm a liverpool fan and I have an E-season ticket which means I can watch reserve and u18 games aswell as senior games over the internet, and in the U18's there are some brilliant young players that could do a great job for us, So i wonder if SF will give rafa a call and ask a for a player?

From what we've seen of Panther when he's played against us, he's a good player - I know 4 goals in that many games isnt good, but how many goals does Fraser score exactly. Sammy knows what he's doing, we need someone who's going to go in for tackles, a big unit infront of the back 4.... Panther ? ;)
