Maybe this where Drummy makes the move into a defensive midfield role; a move that former boss JH always thought would be Drummy's best position. Breaking things up and directing things going forward from just in front of the defence.

Panther from recolection is a a bit of a 'power house' and uses his physical attributes to good effect. Alongside Stanners the midfield should now be more dictatorial.

Exeter fans think that he has "tossed a few toys out of his pram" over not being selected.

From that interview he sounds quite mature rather than throwing toys out.

I personally, not that means much, have rated him since he played for York against us, we were after him when he decided to try his luck back in Scotland, :?: .

He's a player who've always admired because he always plays well against us and really looks the part. As my York City supporting friend says, "Manny Panther will be awesome for 30% of matches, injured for 30% and average for 40%. On his day he's a world beater but on others he'll struggle!".

So a good signing in his own right but in the context of what we need it is really confusing. The evidence of Saturday's performance was that we're still short of striking options; we need to sort out tactics and the shape of our defence; and we may need someone to be a defensive midfielder. So we sign another attacking midfielder (?).

I understand the options regarding Drummy yet he was our joint top scorer last season, so if he's to play a defensive role then Sammy has to be sure that Craney and Panther will do the business. I'm looking forward to seeing the line-up tomorrow night.

Our budget must have gone out the window. And is this the end of the road for bringing in a striker on loan?

I seem to recall him playing well organising the midfield from just in front of the back four at York.

As for a striker I reckon that we will still try to get someone in - but may need to move one or two out before we do.

Damn! I edited my post - considerably - after having a think and then you go and quote me. You're right thinking about it. I just think of him pounding up the field rather a lot and of course last year's goal. Just been on Exeweb and most of them are highly complimentary but think he lost out because of an occasional poor first touch. However many think he deserves a squad place if not a first team one. I also didn't realise Frazer's latest injury was as bad as to keep him out all season and clearly no sign of Garry Hunter returning anytime soon.

Wonder who'll get the chop?

Just checked his stats on Soccerbase- York, 116 appearances and 4 goals. If he's an attacking midfielder he doesn't sound too effective. I could swear he played defensive against us for York but then Wikipedia mentions him being moved from a defensive player to an attacking player.

Also, his dad is an ex professional boxer so certainly sounds like he's got a bit of strength.

Not being funny Mike, but I think he'd want Sky HD at least rather than the black and white portable you've got. If you still have it.

I would say that with whats at stake with the new stadium the Directors have made the wise decision to fund some extra playing strength even if it means a smack on the wrist from the league. All they do is place an embargo and providing we have who we want and no injury crisis its not a problem

something tells me Stanley, although id make way with Drummond, as Stanley does a lot more work with his energy levels, and Craney must be the first name on the team sheet after Roche

Drummond for the first hour to consolidate then replaced by Stanley to shake things up?
