Burton 5 Morecambe 2

I'd like to see Haining and McStay together, McStay had a great run last season until his injury, both have decent pace.

..harsh on Jimbo, but Sammy has to try every permutation. Is it possible that Jimbo came back too quickly and was off the pace having had no pre-season?

I'd put Drummy at the back alongside Haining, both are footballers. McStay on the right and Wilson on the left with Moss and Adams on the bench.

What an open game today it could have finished five apiece two great chances by Twissy hitting the post and bar, if they had gone in who knows. I did think that we got over run in midfield and that Burton attacked and defended as a unit. Dear oh dear what a woeful challenge? by Danny to give away the penalty i think he will be embarrassed by that if he sees a re-run of it. Hope the banner looked ok from the other stands :)

Thought we played some decent stuff in the first half, unlucky not to get a couple of the chances that came our way, but to be honest I thought switching ends at the start was a bad idea - our fans are rarely into it in the second half when that happens. Thought it was harsh on Moss to come off at half time after a decent performance. The attacking trio of Twiss Craney and Jevons is looking good though, getting better every game and on many other days those 2 goals would have been enough to win the game. Unfortunately through the middle we fell apart to let in that many. I'm a fan of Craig Stanley but I have to say he had a shocker today and was responsible for one of two being let in. When we were reeling he showed a good attitude at times but made silly mistakes. Drummy didn't have a great game either, he showed with his headers that even on the bench the spirit of Dave Artell lives through the team. Thank god Barry Roche showed a bit of fire in his belly, bit of a shame he's not an outfield player, we need another leader further up the field.

I was disappointed to hear the booing of Danny Adams during his first touch after the penalty (which was a stonewaller after he took the attacker's legs, probably out of sheer frustration but in no way reflects his otherwise solid performance today), this is doing the team no favours during the course of the 90 minutes, yes after the game the fans let the players know what we thought but during the game we should support every player and encourage them to give their all. I was glad some of the younger fans joined in with 'Super Danny Adams'.

Upfront we are amazing, Twissy unlucky not to get 2 goals - Jevons & craney both score.

Defence - Circus ...... Embarrasing to watch

again it wasnt good but important to make the point we were overrun in midfield on many occasions..........thus putting pressure again on the back line when the wing backs had pushed up and some woeful passing on our part in the middle of the park too many times we gifted possession
granted we were poor to clear our lines for the first three goals though
we only had 6 shots on target all game though 2 went in

My opinion was thet Drummy, Stanners Bentley and Crainey need to get their act together. They are good enough players, so its about time they showed us how to play controlled football. Todays effort was abysmal.

We are fine going forward but the problem lies with our midfield - none of them are willing to make tackles. That is the job Fraser did but nobody else is doing it and ultimately it leaves our defence vulnerable. Stanley was awful today, not only at fault for the fifth goal but made numerous crap passes, Drummie was non existant and isnt willing to make tackles. It was poor of Danny to concede the penalty and ridiculous for Duffy to make that two footed challage.

Its all well and good saying well twissy could have got two goals what with hitting the post/bar but thats irrelevant. Burton could have had double figures were it not for Barry's saves. The fact is we conceded 5 goals and that is simply not good enough.

And you say I talk s**t  Craney scored a goal and Bentley can't possibly have been close to match-fit...

Craney didn't have his best game, but scored a decent goal & wasn't really at fault for our goals. Before this game I would have stuck with Drummond, but now I'd like to see Hunter come back in the team when he's fit (will run all day & WILL make tackles)

 Heard that was bad - Proves that even the top teams have poor days. I'll be worried if we lose to Barnet on Tuesday though.

Well, I will. And the midfield were no better. What an utter shambolic farce. In theory we have an easy start to the season so we better be bucking our ideas up pretty soon...

Burton really didn't look invincible but somehow we contrived to hand them what could be their most convincing win of the season.

Stanley and Drummond were poor, Bentley didn't really look ready to return to the side and Adams, whom I've always regarded as one of our better players, struggled again after Deepdale, culminating in a dreadful challenge to concede the penalty.

As for Duffy, he hasn't really impressed me yet, I think he seems to be given too much of a pivotal role that he's not quite ready for. His sending off for a reckless challenge at a time when all was lost anyway, has done nothing to help our cause over the next few games.

I'm not going to get all doom and gloom for the season, I think there's plenty of scope to recover, but as a one-off game this was awful and similar in feel to the Accrington debacle last season.

Hmm, 1:23pm.... must've been at the roundabout! Zoomed in expecting to see CC peering through the bushes or Brian May playing guitar on the stadium roof, but no.... nothing! Go on, tell me what I've missed!!! :?

Yes, far side of the roundabout. Don't know if the silvered windows allows you to see through them from the outside but if you scan the windows towards the top left of the photo you might see someone waving at you

Ha-ha! I can see figures in the window, one maybe a bit larger than the others and possibly wearing a yellow tabard, but it's only a 3MP beast so can't get the detail! Sorry, but thanks for making the effort! :)

wtf! if you play a 5-3-2 the idea is to be defensive and not conceive.

id like us to go just for a good old fashioned flat back four

oh and am a massive fan of Bentley but you have to ask questions about SM? playing jimbo after he's played no pre-season?

Just a few words to describe this game,

Utter disgraceful, worst performance I have seen in the 5/6 years i have been watching Morecambe.

Just to add, all those booing that was also disgraceful I don't agree with it and feel it only makes things worse for the players, believe it or not the players knew they played crap!!! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!

I wouldn't ever normally boo, but yesterday I did at the final whistle. It really was that bad. I regret it now but I needed to take some frustration out in some way. If I was in the dressing room there would be nothing left on the walls. We were sputum-filled distended rectum incompetents of the highest order.

It really is the silly season with results all over the show. Look at Everton v Arse, Daggers Torquay etc.

It's 2 games in and it's better to have these problems now than in mid season when we might have had a false sense of security and ended up in freefall.

We might be sitting pretty in a play off place with 3 points had it not been for a 90th minute goal against Hereford, and if, by all accounts Twissy has hit post and bar, then yesterday could have been closer, or even a draw. There are such fine lines between success and failure sometimes.

Having said that, it's clear from reading reports about yesterday that there are concerns over the midfield. Whether it's because the wing backs are not wing backs or what I don't know, but if there's a team meeting, and there should be, hopefully they can tell the manager any concerns they have.

On paper we have a much better squad this season I think. It's a case of playing the players to their strengths, and not necessarily a system that did ok last season, but with different players.
