Chester

Still waiting for announcement on if they are allowed to carry on or not think they should hear today after the FA made them wait an extra 48 hours, the last statement was:-

"SOLICITORS acting on behalf of troubled Chester City, along with the club’s administrators, Refresh Recovery and their legal advisers, held urgent meetings last night to try and find a positive way forward for the Deva Stadium outfit.

City are racing against the clock to try and find a solution to the problems that are prompting the Football Association to continue refusing the club’s application for affiliation.

The refusal by the FA could ultimately mean that City, in its current form, are forced out of business as the deadline from the Football Conference expires tonight, and if a solution isn’t found it could well be curtains for the club.

Apparently there a number of stumbling blocks still to be resolved and if an agreement between the club’s legal team and the FA isn’t brokered, it could mean a hefty points deduction in addition to the minus 10 points they have already been handed, or even the doomsday scenario.

Chester were due to open their Blue Square Premier League campaign this Saturday with a visit to Grays Athletic but whatever the outcome of further meetings that are due to continue today, the weekend trip to Essex looks extremely unlikely.

It is understood that players’ contracts haven’t yet been authorised by the FA and the Grays Athletic ‘off the field’ preparations have been hampered because of the uncertainty that the situation has created.

Chester have already had to cancel pre-season friendly matches against Marine, Liverpool, Burnley and Telford United because of the lack of affiliation"

It's not looking hopeful for them.

Looks like it is going down to the wire and no final decision until tomorrow. Chester fans all squabbling.

Particularly liked this from one of the fans

Must be shocking for them making them wait this long could you imagine if it was us.

However no fan group on there seems to be up for the idea of starting up a new club or trying to take over. A lot of people have said as it wouldn't be the original Chester City so they can't see the point and would give up going to football. With an attitude like that I can't see why they deserve a club.

I have full respect for teams like AFC Wimbledon, Scarborough and Telford.

Their mods would delete it. None of mine have been zapped, yet, but I don't think they've sussed who I support. Maybe they will if I post a photo of someone at a Morecambe game holding a Chester umbrella

Surprised at you Mark, the "Let's kick Vaughan out of football" sticker was originally thought up by Matty for the last issue of Corpus Christie, twelve months ago!

A lot still to be revealed. Chester will never have a settled future while that crook is in charge.

The fans are gathered at the Stadium as we speak. Grays have threatened to play somebody else on Saturday apparently, and could claim their losses from Chseter and/or the FA :o

..no doubt he's surrounded by his bully boys.

Remember he and them coming to Christie Park once. Ugly looking 'barstewards' they were too!

If you read devachat you'll find everyone except the FA and the Conference are talking about playing on saturday with -25 points.

Things is the points deduction doesn't mean anything as SV is still there running the place into the ground.

I pressume as the CVA wasn't agreed that they still have the full debt?

There's a "distance to grounds this season" thread on devachat, the winning answer is 0.
