O/T Altinkum in Turkey

Just booked a holiday here with the Mrs, has anyone been there before and can give any details?

Turkey is a big place.
Istanbul is a world class destination.
Not in the euro-zone which is good.
Watch your money, as some notes look very similar.
Do you like Efes?
In the resorts they like the Brits, cos we're an easy touch, and leave our brains behind at the airport. So beware taxi drivers, bars and restaurants - suss out the prices before ordering.
If your airport transfer isn't included, the taxi will be expensive, but see below ref Trip Advisor, and you'll see what other people have paid or whether there is an alternative to a taxi.
You won't be an instant Lira millionnaire, as they recently dropped 6zeros off the currency.
Go the Trip Advisor website, find the forum which suits your actual destination, and see what other people who've been there recently think.
Go down the library and borrow the Lonely Planet, or other guide book.

Don't go for a day out to Izmir, impossible to navigate, military shit-hole, you won't like it.

very nice place but in a nutshell in most cases there out to have you off, if you give them a inch they'll take a mile

Must say that when we went to a place called Dalyan a few years ago it was one of the best European holidays we've had.

Didn't find the locals ripped us off but we ate mainly in the hotel (half board) and only drank beers when out.

If you get the chance go on a Jeep Safari, certainly a great day out and you get to see the interior which is hidden from the normal tourist routes....but watch out for the water falls that we drove through!

fabulous country to visit....we went to hisaronu (olu deniz) nr fethiye a few yrs back now ...
great people.very friendly turkish bath and massage a must!!!!.great scenerie..water like clear tap water....as usual bypass the holiday rep for most tours...ie boat trip with rep 35 quid ....purchased on beach or harbour....a little over 5 quid for the day with lunch....lots to see ..if you like walking round ruins....every one has left their mark here....greeks romans hitites ect......enjoy

Eating and drinking out, unlike most countries they didn't just want your money but actually wanted you to have a good time, they always took time to talk to you and make you feel welcome, good sense of humour as well.

Did you do the mud baths on the Dalyan river, the ones that are supposed to make you look ten years younger, didn't work for me . As you say the jeep safari is a great day out, you do get very wet but it is a good laugh.
