I love Lancaster City.Remember Lee Koo in the 70's.
Kung Fu Koo we called him.
You could hear the players calling him by his nickname kooey.
Thought there was a hog calling contest on.

They'll have about 50 fans, whilst we'll have about 500. Of course, if this was a competative match then we'd take around 1500

The last time Morecambe played a friendly at the Giant Axe - July 29th 2008 - the attendance was 550.

And the last time in anger, a cold December night in 2005, it went to penalties.

i think that was the first and only time i've ever cursed a morecambe goal.

rubbish game in rubbish conditions in a pointless comp (wasn't bentley the manager that day?) when tommo (i think!) scored an equalised minutes from FT.

ref was terrible too as far as i recall, during the pens didn't he make them retake a saved penalty because scot davies had come off his line or something?

i imagine i'll be going to this one, but only because i can walk there and the food is ok!

I remember him disallowing Thommo's penalty twice because the City keeper encroached, and the 3rd attempt, which was allowed, was saved!

Lancashite Cup (c) Quinny. We played a second string with yoofs. We had a curry planned at the Bombay Brasserie and were more than happy to leave losers so we could get our curry. Then on comes Thommo and I think Danny Carlton. Thommo goes and wellies it from 25 yards into the top corner. "F*@%*g hell Thommo what did you go and do that for?". Great goal and all he got was at best polite applause. Cue the worst and most biased penalty shoot out I've ever seen. Also spoilt by a bunch on inbreds in the home end who assualted a young couple heading for a burger and spat venom at Morecambe fans all night.

Re above I've found the original Visitor cutting.

I was in the middle of the idiots.
Scary, unpleasant stuff, most of them had just turned up for the aggro, and probably haven't been to Giant Axe since.

Perhaps we should make conversation with City fans on their message board along the same lines as what our friend Firthy Sex God from Bratfud does on here .....

We demand three sides of your ground, extra (FREE) car parking at St Leonardsgate, extra seating to be constructed, half the home end to be given over to Morecambe fans if needs be, and lashings of ginger beer etc etc etc etc ........ !!!!!!!!!

The Lancaster City fans seem really vicious. When I was ballboy for them once they started shouting and pointing at me and the person I was with.

As someone now living away, there was a story that a good proportion of Morecambe fans live in Lancaster in any case, but deserted the Giant Axe because they wanted to follow the bigger team. I believe I read once that the last time the two teams competed in league matches (1981-2), City's average gate that season was 249 and the Shrimps' 248!

How times have changed.
