Jevons and Larkin parnership?

Jevons and Larkin parnership?

Postby Christies Child » Thu Jul 23, 2009 10:54 am

In all the discussions about our potential strike force for this coming season, we've overlooked the possibility of a Jevons / Larkin partnership.

Experience in abundance without question.

Larkin showed enough for me v Burnley to suggest that he's could form an ideal partnership with Jevons.

I look forward to hopefully seeing them together v Plymouth.

Without having seen jevons play, they're both smaller men who like to play off a bigger target man. Although i'd wager they'd be our opening strike partnership on saturday so let's see how they get on

Yep - they may be too similar in style. Larkin looked okay but he got injured fairly quickly - I wonder if that may be a problem with him?
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Phil Jevons scoring record is decent especially at Yeovil where he scored 42 in 84 games :-

There has been a lot of focus on us getting a new striker and perhaps rightly so, as our named strikers have left!!! BUT is that focus aimed at the true problem. From what i have seen over the last few seasons is that we have an inability to create the chances for our strikers. We are quite good at passing the ball around the backs/ midfield but it takes an age to move forward quickly and by that timeour opposition have craeted a good defensive structure.

I believe if we can cure this then our strikers old or new would have a better strike rate and we may improve our points position. But would that be detrimental our our defensive abilities. For me its currently pretty boring to watch at the moment I'd rather have a 10-10 thriller than thinking we are going to do something exciting near the goal twice in a game!!!

maybe its time for a change in tactics, so our forwards dont get the brunt of the critism.

id just like Jevons upfront on his own with Duffy playing off to the right of him & Twiss to the left getting first time balls across the goal mouth

That would be a good thing to try out. I think on Saturday though it will be Larkin and Jevons up front.
