Juliette Lewis?

Juliette Lewis?

Postby Mike Blackstone » Wed Jul 15, 2009 8:32 am

Having seen the front page story in the Visitor about Juliet Lewis, am I the only one to say - "Never heard of her?" - I don't watch films of any sort, and so called celebs just leave me totally cold, so perhaps not surprising? A bit of a non-story for me.

Just because you have never heard of her doesn't mean it's not a big deal. Kind of like when you had never heard of Bench even though they are a massive clothing brand.

She has been in quite a few big films, most notably Natural Born Killers.

Juliet Lewis is one of our generations best actresses. Personally I cant understand why she is doing this rockband project and not making films.

Not only that but she is really sexy. I mean really sexy. I nearly got a ticket for this library gig when I first heard about it. Then I realised that I am far too old to be a groupie! :(

Take a look here Mike

The thing is, the last time I went to the Cinema was to watch 'Goal' the film of the 1966 World Cup a few months after the tournament ended. I rarely watch TV apart from perhaps two or three programmes per week (Countryfile, Coast, Who Do You Think You Are? Those sort of programmes etc), plus a daily 'dose' of the news. So somewhat out of touch I suppose when it comes to these sort of things. And I have still not seen Bench anywhere apart from on the front of the Morecambe shirts. Maybe I don't shop for clothes in the right places to see that brand?

Indeed, but regardless of whether you have heard of her or not surely you can accept that she is quite a big deal and her visiting Morecambe isn't a "non story".

If I buried my head in the sand for the past 10 years and had never heard of Barrack Obama I wouldn't class any news stories about him as a "non story"

I'd never heard of her 'til she appeared on The Graham Norton Show earlier this year so I wouldn't worry :P

Juliette starred in Cape Fear (Oscar nomination, best supporting actress) alongside Robert De Niro, she was also in a couple of films with and was engaged to Brad Pitt (so there's some A-list celeb fame for you).

Perhaps her biggest role was in the hugely controversial Natural Born Killers, a Tarantino/Oliver Stone shocker in which she starred with Woody Harrelson. There was such a worldwide fuss about that that you really would have had to have your head stuck in the sand not to have caught some of it.

So, basically, one of Hollywood's real top names - doing a gig at ......... Morecambe Library.

You've answered your own question really, Mike. It's a bit like me saying 'I don't watch sport of any kind' and then expressing surprise at The Visitor putting David Beckham (who 'I've never heard of') on the front page if he did a coaching course at Westgate Primary School.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

As I mentioned above, I simply don't 'do' films. So no wonder I have never heard of her. They still had usherettes last time I went! And Pathe News ..... and you saw two films, a shorter one then the main one. Tubs of ice cream during the interval.
