M6 Junction in Lancaster: Closed Southbound!

Travelling back from the game to Preston this evening I was extremely annoyed to find the junction southbound closed due to... well I couldn't tell. Had to continue down towards Caton, turn around and head towards Lancaster to join the A6. Heading back to Lancaster I past car upon car of, I presume, Burnley fans. There were no warning signs of the junction closed until you reached the top of the hill where the lights are.

Why oh why of all nights do it when there's a game on with 1500 away fans expecting to use that entrance later on. I feel sorry for the Burnley fans travelling back with their families. Someone at the council needs a talking to in my opinion.

I presume this will all be cleared up in time for the mornings commute.

MUst admit i always head up through carnforth and join the M6 further up at the next junction. It looked like roadworks as only one lane was open and the junction was indeed closed to traffic wanting to join southbound.

I wish I'd knew, I would have done the same thing. I'm more annoyed for the Burnley fans. I'd guess 99% will all use that junction.

AGREED! Never saw any advanced warnings or publicity about this closure for road works. We also did a quick about turn and went back through Lancaster but it must have caused chaos for the Clarets fans trying to get back. Very poor from LCC or whoever is responsible

so how long will be closed and between what hours ??
it's normally between 21.00hrs and 06.00hrs

anyone know i'm using that junction at about 06.30 in the morning
