Darren Hughes?

Darren Hughes?

Postby Mike Blackstone » Tue Jul 14, 2009 10:49 am

I'm trying to trace what happened to former Everton, Shrewsbury, Port Vale and Northampton Town defender, Darren Hughes after he left Exeter City at the end of the 1996-97 season.

I've been told that he signed for Morecambe, so would be interested to have that confirmed by someone? if so, what happened to him after he left the Shrimps?

Played - didn't impress at all, looked to have completely lost his 'legs'. Wouldn't be surprised if he retired after that.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Played for us under Jim in 1997/98 season. Well, I say "played" ........ in a fashion.

Was sent packing and definately re-surfaced at Newcastle Town Mike in the North West Counties League. I remember seeing his pic in a NTFC team photo in one of the old Non League Directories shortly after his departure from us.

I'm sure you'll have all those old books somewhere Mike - dig 'em out and have a look !

Don't you have a copy of "Light at the end of the tunnel" mike.

It contains pen pictures of every player to have worn the famous red shirt since 1920 although the ones that played less than 10 games just get a name check with the year that they played.

I was seeking more info on the player rather than just name check. Thanks to above, have now more details. I'm in the midst of a four year project on behalf of the club - a two volume Exeter City Complete A to Z of Players going back to 1904.
