Season tickets - what a shambles!

Whoever is responsible for the club shop/office please resign now.
Along with 4 other supporters I turned up at the club shop/office at 10 past nine this morning to purchase a season ticket. All 5 of us waited until 9.30 and the place remained closed despite the notice on the dooor saying it opened at 9 am. At this point some very angry and frustrated people decided enough was enough and left. The club is always citing the lack of income as a factor and then treat their supporters like this. Perhaps it is a ploy by the club to prepare us for a return to non league. By the way 2 of the people in the queue had travelled from Kendal and stated they would not be back.

I posted on saturday about my dismay that the shop was closed on saturday, while i was there a guy came up and was not amused, he wanted to buy a shirt for his grandson to take on holiday with him. We may be a small club but there are certain aspects of the club that are very amatureish.

Thanks to Abbo I saved myself a wasted trip from Preston to get my gubbins. Although Ned you have (once again) come off as way too OTT you do have a point. The club must have lost easily a couple of thousand pounds just over the last few days.

I must admit, I went down on Saturday morning too expecting to purchase a home shirt and also a MFC Coat in readiness for the winter months (nothing like advance planning but I couldn't get one last year !!!) and was surprised and dismayed to see it shut.

Like previous posters have mentioned, a good few £££ in lost revenue unfortunately across the board ............. :( :( :(

Ned has always had a fantastic ability to lose a genuine criticism by adding an extra dollop of bile that isn't needed. Yes, the club have failed to capitalise from a marketing point of view, why add the additional bollox?

will the club shop be open tomorrow evening before the friendly?

Surely it would make business sense to stay open a couple more hours in the evening so people who work mon-fri, 9-5pm can purchase their merchandise

I agree it is OTT but surely even in your cave you must be aware of the practice of ensuring `maximimum impact` when highlighting a point of dissatisfaction whether it be in politics, business or social. It is usually implemented when previous general complaints on a subject have been ignored by the offending person/company. With regard to the non league bile the point was to emphasise that the clubs approach in this matter was what you would might expect from non league. Never underestimate the strength of pubic opinion and that includes potential new players who increasingly surf fans message boards to ascertain info on the club.

In which case you've probably done far more harm as far as potential signings are concerned than any salary cap could have. I'm sure you would like to see us back in the conference.

In defence of the club and the staff, the previous situation was that the club shop opened from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 11am on matchdays to kick off.

However, for the first time, they've already arranged two weekend openings this summer and also stayed open to 8pm on two Thursdays both of which were announced on the main website and on Shrimpsvoices. Additionally I understand that changes are planned for match-day openings to open later and be open again after matches. So real changes are being made to improve services.

As regards this morning I know Mark Dixon is away but I'm sure this thread won't go un-noticed (the tone of the opening comments I'm sure will though) and acted on.

If anything, you're worse. You set up a thread practically accusing the club of having lax safety procedures. Ned created a thread with a genuine reason for complaint in an area the club have always been at best amateur. In response to Posh, the club should have put changes in place after the end of the previous season. Mind you, it isn't surprising. We were slow to put season tickets on sale in the first place!

I have checked into this today and it seems that the lady who works in the shop rang in sick and the other office staff don't come in until 10am while another is on holiday.
The club apologises for any problems this may have caused supporters today for what was a one-off incident.

To be fair to whoever, there has been a notice on the door of the shop asking customers to go to the office each time I've turned up recently ... unfortunately in doing this I think the club misses a marketing trick as personally I like to browse and look at things before I buy, preferably without feeling I'm inconveniencing anyone in the process by dragging them away from whatever it is they're doing at the time ...

Also, if the club wants to sell stuff, and folk have made the effort to travel to the club shop, surely the onus is on the club to ensure it's staffed? The club shouldn't lose anything by placing an office worker in the shop temporarily as office work can travel with the staff; if they have to go out of their way to buy, customers are less likely to feel inclined to put in the effort needed.

Inconvenient for everybody as Saturday was, I'm sure the shop will be open tomorrow before the Burnley game and doing a roaring trade.

Don't give the sales girls grief....it's not their fault the place was closed.

It sounds to me that Simply Ned has gone down the completly wrong path, and has spat his dummy out yet again. This situation could have been more effectivly resolved with a more personal approach.

Ned after standing outside the club shop for half an hour (or however long it was :?: ) did you not think of phoning the club up personally and asking them why the club shop was not open?
I'm sure someone would have been in the office's at some point at the time. If not, stroll on home and give them a ring at a later time.

I'm pretty sure if you contacted the club, explained that you were at the club shop waiting for a long time for it to open to no avail, they would have been very appologetic, understanding, and would have happliy accomodated your's and anyone elses needs to your satisfaction. You may have even got a freebee out of it as a gesture.

It always seem's to me that you run to shrimpsvoices straight away to slate how the club is run at the earliest opportunity before stopping and thinking what actually might have been the best apporach!

the start of this topic could have been totally different. Ned you could have said:

"I wen't down to the club shop today and it was closed at 9am when it was suposed to be open. After waiting for over half an hour, other waiting customers and myself were fed up and went home. Upon my arrival home, I declded to ring the club direct and discover what the problem was. The club explained that it was a one off problem and were very appologetic. Offered something in compensation for your wasted journey and everything was resolved and I was pleasently pleased with what great customer service I recieved!"

Unfortunatly we all know Ned that you would never go down that path!
