do you think that with the club moving onto Westgate that it will affect your place, will it be possible to walk to the new ground from the York ??

May I respond on his behalf?

The York will still be within walking distance to the new ground, with only the William Mitchell pub being closer/handier.
A walk down past the Trimple club along the cycle path brings you out on Westgate very close to the new ground. Not that much further for away fans to walk than now.

Obviously some away fans will prefer that pub, but the fans that have been before will probably still go to the York pre-match, it is a football friendly pub - rather than a football tolerant pub.

Let's not forget the excellent beers and hospitality on offer in The York.

Pub of the year :!: well done to all the staff.

Cheers for that Mick.

Just to add - I have already looked into EVERY aspect of the pre-match day package that we provide at the York and not one to stand still I believe we now have a regular and loyal customer base that will continue to support us.

I have been in talks with taxi companies and it is possible to drive past the Trimpell and the stables to the turn round point. From there it is about 5 mins walk past the school to the new ground, so, not too much difference than before.

Us regular away travelers always look for a pub around the vicinity of the ground to visit pre-match and have built up a good database of footie and away friendly places - I'm sure that away fans to Morecambe feel like that as well.

We are also trying a few different aspects to our food offer and of course there is now the patio that helps us to increase the numbers allowed in (fire regs dictate unfortunately). The back room has been redecorated and the scarves are slowly going back up with other pics and memorabilia.

So - Pub of the Year - well, it's taken three years to get to near the standards we want, but it is work in progress and we have a lot more to do yet. Your support and loyalty is so much appreciated and as Mick said - well done to our hard working staff - they helped to get us our award as well as the votes from customers.

Onwards and upwards!

So you can now have your pre/post-match drinks in Morecambe's Pub of the Year - let's hope another aspect of Morecambe can win through to league 1 come next May.

Onwards and Upwards

Well done Mick!
