Thanks to everyone who voted for the York Hotel in the Visitor Pub of the Year competition, in fact a VERY big thanks because we WON!!!!!

So you can now have your pre/post-match drinks in Morecambe's Pub of the Year - let's hope another aspect of Morecambe can win through to league 1 come next May.

To be honest, you were only really up against The Canal Turn and The Palentine from the others that were in for it, must of been close as these are both top pubs too.

Second place was the Battery and third was the Pier - well done to them and all that entered, I'm sure the fortnight of voting got people thinking about supporting their locals again, something sadly tailing away now with the proliferation of cheap supermarket booze and Wetherspoon's.

Well said Mark - it's the punters that got us there and will keep us there.
BTW - you missed the free drinks and nibbles this evening - however there will be a free punch at the Beach night on 18th July :) And a free whipping off Mary afterwards ;)

I must call in sometime and see what makes it a winner. Congrats to you. Is it a free house, by that I mean the landlord can source his beer from any brewery and not from a tie or a chosen list? Any small and/or micro brewery ales on sale? Just interested.

Hi Mike

At the moment I'm a tennant but have a selection of cask ales on sale including Everards Beacon and Black Sheep. I will put on a guest on match days for the more discerning away fans palates. We don't do Strongbow - Thatchers Gold is our cider tipple. We also have a great collection of football scarves including one from Exeter!!!!!

BTW - free wi-fi!!

Sgt,
do you think that with the club moving onto Westgate that it will affect your place, will it be possible to walk to the new ground from the York ??

May I respond on his behalf?

The York will still be within walking distance to the new ground, with only the William Mitchell pub being closer/handier.
A walk down past the Trimple club along the cycle path brings you out on Westgate very close to the new ground. Not that much further for away fans to walk than now.

Obviously some away fans will prefer that pub, but the fans that have been before will probably still go to the York pre-match, it is a football friendly pub - rather than a football tolerant pub.

Let's not forget the excellent beers and hospitality on offer in The York.

Pub of the year :!: well done to all the staff.

Thanks Morecambe Mick,
i knew there was a path that went to the trimpell but wasnt sure how far down it went. Hopefully fans will still use the York before and after the games.
