We are all aware that we need to sign somebody capable of scoring the goals that we lacked last season.

However, it is crucial that we do not "panic buy" because we can not afford to bring people in who will not improve the squad that we already have.

As has been said on other threads we can not compete financially with many other clubs in our league and also suffer geographically. Financially the club can not afford to sign players just to appease fans who are frustrated by the apparent lack of transfer activity.

We can all be certain that Sammy and the Board are working hard and doing their utmost to bring the right people in and are possibly more frustrated than we are by the lack of signings.

Spot on.

'Talking to' a player doesn't mean 'about to sign'.

As well as Curtis Allen we've spoken at some length to at least one more striker (experienced) and, as has been said, a couple more potential new players have been training with us. But one had other offers and didn't want to relocate up here and the others may or may not be much better than Wayne, Aaron and Twissy anyway. If Sammy judges that to be the case, then he won't sign them.

We've also had a decent bid for Gash (which was about as much as I'd want us to offer - and more than some would have wanted us to offer) turned down.

They ARE working every day on looking for and talking to players and their agents, though.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

Agreed. I'd rather sign nobody than sign someone average just to make up numbers.

I hope we do sign someone to make up the numbers.

We have only 3 strikers including a 19 year old not ready to become a first team regular. Even one injury there will cause major problems.

I disagree with you I would rather have a 'avarge' striker rather that not get anybody in at all

we should follow what AC Milan fans did this week, and go to the ground and throw missiles at the directors for poor lack of signings and ambition
