Wouldn't surprise me if he scores on a regular basis.

Good luck to him.

Still don't think he was given enough games.

I disagree.

It would not surprise me at all if Diarmuid becomes a very useful player in a couple of years' time.

But we needed someone, on the wages he was on, who could have more of an immediate impact. Diarmuid wasn't given a very long run of starts but when he did play he looked okay but not outstanding.

If we're waiting for a young player to develop then I'd prefer we put the faith in Aaron - who has about as much chance of being a good 'un IMO and will be on a lower wage.

Nothing against the lad but he is 1 for the future and if we have to rely on him to score the goals there's only 1 way were going, in my opinion we need a experienced hardened centre forward, now the thing is getting someone like that is the problem.

Agree - so that we can continue to bring Aaron on gradually.

Absolutly, get someone in and let Aaron play and learn off a experienced player and in another season or so Aaron will be a bit stronger and streetwise, he has great protential but i wouldnt like to see to much pressure put on him.

A few weeks ago Accrington stated they were releasing Paul Mullin due to budgetary constraints.

1/ Although 36 (and probably not improving) he could hopefully do a job for at least another season or two at Div 2 level. He also lives in the Accrington area so is relatively local.

2/ He would surely be an ideal role model for Aaron to learn from. Mullin has definitely been there and got the T-Shirt, so in my opinion would be ideal to assist in Aaron's development.

Wouldn't say no to that, mate.
I understand Mullin is on a decent wage at Accy and one that is more than they want to pay players under the new restrictions there.
He's on the transfer list but, unless someone offers him what he's on there, he'll sit it out for the year he has left on his contract.

do you not think that his best days are behind him when they were in the Conference?
great striker dont get me wrong
I'd be hoping for someone younger and of better quality

he scored 7 goals last season
13 in season 2007/2008
16 in season 2006/2007 first season in league
14 in conference promotion year 2005/2006

not bad but can we get better???

Can't imagine him being that thrilled about a move to us. He's been Accy too long.

If we can, fair enough.

But if not I wouldn't mind him at all. We know what he can do and he gives a consistent performance every week. He occupies defenders, holding the ball up and making space for others to score.

If we can get a younger lad with pace (maybe even a loanee) to go alongside him, I'd be happy with that for a season.

"holding the ball up and making space for others to score"

accept that BUT.....surely we should be paying for him to score at least 15 a season
ideally someone who can bag between 15 and 20?
all that money on rene howe who underachieved with only 11 goals was bloody annoyin gfor everyone last season??
maybe your right glen mullin would have been more value for the money
cant wait to see who sammy brings in
shame about the lad gash and morison has made it up to league one
will be interesting

not worth it for somebody who's 36, and his record ain't that impressive

if you go to the top right hand corner, and select center forward, it tells you all the available players in this country

They have rejected a £50K bid from York BUT maybe the propect of league soccer would persuade him to insist on a move.....assuming Sammy hasn't moved on.
