Not the 20 goals a season striker I feel we need, but possibly one we can afford financially.

Could be the experience needed to assist in the development of Aaron into a saleable asset within 24 months?

Are you talking about a specific player?

I thought they said on radio Lancashire that we were supposed to sign an experienced striker on Friday but it was delayed until this weekend.

Why develop him into someone we're looking to sell, and keep playing musical chairs with our forward line? He has the potential to be the best goalscorer for us since Jacko and Norman. Yes make him as good as he can possibly be but also do our utmost to keep him here and banging in the goals for us!

.....and find ourselves in another Thommo situation......

IF Aaron makes the grade within 24 months and we benefit from his goals then shouldn't we cash in.....big style?

You say that as if it's a bad thing.

We must have had about 8 years excellent service out of him.

..yes we did and how fortunate we have been in the process, but he left us and we got nothing...that's my point.

From what I gather and in my opinion, Thommo was a different kettle of fish. He had his good days but we only offered him a one-year deal when we got promoted because of his consistency issues. A natural goalscorer on the other hand is always going to attract interest, this we know and IMO should fight to keep him at the club, if that means signing a contract extension a year before expiry then so be it (if it makes business sense of course).

It also doesn't make footballing sense to sell your best players, especially not one that's been brought from the youth system and is that rare commodity as we have found out to our cost all too often, someone who finds scoring easy! Why would we want to sell our star striker? I hasten to add this is ASSUMING he realises his potential and grows into the player who's name every kid wants on the back of their shirt. Not saying he's currently our best!

If he were to leave in the next 5 years, he can't leave on a free anyway, we would be due compensation as he'd be under 24.

Hope we sign someone soon!! I don't think taylor will score many goals this season, and cant see us making any money by selling the lad.

We are supposed to be after 2 strikers.

Instead of using the budget on 2 strikers I would rather we use it for 1 striker who will be a top striker on top money and use Twissy , Aaron and Wayne as his partners.

thats if we can get a 'top striker' unless Sammy has got someone lined up its looking mor and more like we are not going to get the players that Sammy wanted
