Hope to get an interview for this week's paper.

Good, solid defender who is rated as very consistent by their fans.

Now we're talking.

A great signing with a proven track record at this level. Beats paying top price for an unproven nobody any day of the week (ref Gash).

More of the same please Sammy.

Great signing.

If we can get a striker of the same quality, I'll be feeling pretty confident for next season.

Superb signing. Welcome to the club Mossy. Now for the forward line, and we'll have a pretty handy squad.

You've made an excellent signing in Mossy. I may be somewhat biased but I didn't see a better right back in the division last season.

As and out and out defender he's top class, where he lacks these days is in his ability to get forward to good effect. Strangely something that he excelled at in his first spell at the club before his £170,000 transfer to Crewe Alex. He should now be at or around his peak and you should get some very good service out of him over the coming seasons.

Simpson has made a major error of judgement here in my opinion. Mossy was a consistently high performer last season and was more deserving of a decent new contract offer than some. Instead he was offered a one year deal and a 40% pay cut, the lad has a family you can't blame him for looking elsewhere.

Our loss is very much your gain. Simpson has moved quickly to sign his replacement in Dean Holden, but in my view you have the superior player of the two.

Great news. Looks like he's had loads of experience in league 2 having played nearly 300
games. I wonder who the striker we've signed is.

good signing plenty of experience, just hope we get a left sided player next who can cross a ball of the same standard

and a striker obviously goes without saying.

Well that was worth waiting for wasn't it, experienced and well thought of by the Shrewsbury fans. Nice one Sammy, a quality signing.

Bloody excellent signing this one! In the actual paper Mossy is clearly upset at having to leave Shrewsbury and states that finances were his main reason for not staying at the Pro-Star. 'I'm devastated to be leaving Shrewsbury because I was really looking forward to another season there and after Christmas I thought I was one of the most consistent players last season but to be offered a 40% pay cut was really disappointing as when the gaffer gave me my chance I felt I took it'. I've got a family to think about so I've had no choice but to look elsewhere and move on'. Simpson is quoted as saying,' Darren was on a very good contract and I wanted him to stay and thats why I offered him a new contract on what we felt were reasonable terms. I'm disappointed Darren has left but we move on. Simpson didn't waste any time in filling the gap and has signed Dean Holden from Falkirk.

brilliant especially on a free, I am now glad the other fullback we were in talks with fell through as we would have had to pay a fee.

This is a great bit of business

He'll get a signing-on fee so there'll be some up front cost.

Agree with that. We took advantage of the situation very quickly. Quality player.

I'll reserve judgement. I'm a little concerned by the reports that he may be a little lacking in the attack department. We can ill afford another slow defender! Hopefully he's quicker than the Shrewsbury correspondent seems to suggest :)

Apparently in his first spell at Shrews he was good going forward and played further up but when he came back after his spell at Crewe he seemed to have lost the ability to push on. Will be intresting to see if we play hm as Full back or wing back.

Also looks like we may have a younger version of Danny Adams as he likes a drink.

Don't upset the applecart!

It's great to think we have prised away great potential from a top Club! It shows that others are trimming their wages and costs. Morecambe could well be the place to come in the next few seasons. Long may the Exodus continue :D

Even the mighty Michael Boulding has taken a dip in wages

Shrewsbury beat Barnet in the Conference play offs to go to Britannia stadium Stoke where they beat Aldershot. Both times on penalty's but more importantly in the play off at Gay Meadow guess who scored the winning pen? Watch and admire on 6 mins 20 as our latest recruit helps the Shrews return to the football league.
Darren, I hope you improve on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=396qZIg-1uM
Could be worse though........Nick Chadwick, call yourself a striker

Not quite sure but what I am led to believe is that he was on £800/week when Gary Peters signed him but obviously 'if' this is true the new contract offer was for 40% less at Shrewsbury and on a 12mth contract. We've given him a bit more security with a 2yr deal and probably more than his wage less 40% was??
