Hello everyone. I used to be a professional comic script writer: those of you who can remember `Buster' and `Whizzer and Chips' will have seen some of my work, such as `Watford Gapp'; `Tarman of the Jungle'; `The Bumpkin Billionaires' etc etc etc.
"Watford Gapp - King of the Rap" wasn't my idea: the artist, Tom Paterson, came up with the first two stories - I wrote about 150 subsequent scripts. What was really unusual about the strip was that it was always in verse. The kids loved it - it is still being reprinted in Fleetway Comic compilations even now, nearly twenty years later. I still think there is a future for these sorts of comic strips. I've thus written a verse about Christie the Cat with the idea of initially approaching the Club and - given their blessing - Puma with the intention of writing verses for the mascots of all the other teams in Britain that Puma produces strips for. There is a commercial reason for this as well as wanting to entertain supporters all over the UK...
I thus need a cartoonist prepared and able to produce the artwork. If you are interested - or know anyone who might be - please get in touch so I can send you a copy of the first script.
Thanks in anticipation,
Roger Fitton.
