I think that’s the point - the Reading sale has taken an absolute age but still half the time that ours has taken (and with ours still not having concluded)!
The authorities need powers to give prospective buyers a time window and if they can’t pass the tests and purchase the club during that window, their application gets thrown out and can’t be reconsidered for say another 2 years.

Back to my favourite phrase, it's only a Ltd company. If it weren't a football club, the sale could have happened long ago and have folded by now. At least the EFL are holding it up to some inquiry and approval.

Dave (Barra) wrote:Our last change of ownership took less than a month - and that would have been quicker if the Trust weren’t involved and had to take time to canvass the membership on taking up a stake in the club. That was at National League level but I know people who have been through the EFL fit and proper test and it is a formality - if you are fit and proper, that is.
