Car trouble O/T

Postby glagys » Wed May 07, 2025 11:23 am

So daughter bought a second hand car in December and has no end of troubles with it

Took it to a family friend who owns a garage when the oil light came on, he topped the oil up about a month- 6 weeks ago oil light came on again said it’s drinking engine oil said he would do any work but as it’s under warranty take it back and tell them your not happy and you want a refund? Is this possible?how does she stand as it’s bought under finance??
Any ideas

Obviously it's go back to the dealer in the first place, but if it's a Hire Purchase Loan then they can also be responsible, similar to making a purchase with a credit card

If it's under warranty then surely whoever she bought it from is duty bound to fix the problem.

With so many used cars on the market thanks to companies like 'we buy any car' it's little wonder that some used cars are put back onto the forecourt for immediate re sale with little if any checks are carried out on the vehicles condition.

My son in law sold his Seat to a company like 'we buy any car' and it went straight back onto the market the very same day they came to collect it. They asked a further £2000 for it....and it was sold within 48 hours with a 12 month warranty.

He did very well in purchasing a new MG Electric car for £15,000 less than list price due to MG having massive stock and an impending new version of the same vehicle. Just wish we could afford to buy the same vehicle..... :( :( :(

To buy a personalised number you have to be very egotistic or have more money than you know what to do with

Oy.....my big bruv Dave used to fit ejector seats into Jaguar fighter aircraft at Bae Warton. He commuted daily from Scale Hall to Warton in his beloved RR. Like piloting a
Spifire but on 3 wheels.
