Carlisle sack their manager (again)

Carlisle sack their manager (again)

Postby redrobo » Sat Aug 31, 2024 8:29 pm

Paul Simpson has been sacked as Carlisle Manager after today's defeat v Tranmere.

Jamie Devitt and other back room staff have been put in temporary charge.

Carlisle have American owners who have invested £8 million in the club since they took over

For me it suggests that money doesn't always provide the results on the field But I wouldn't mind some of it.

It also shows that investors will pay out but want results.

It will be interesting seeing who they get in to replace Simpson. Do they go big and bring in a pricey name wanting instant success or do they go for a young up and comer who they will back with a long term plan? It will be an indication of their level of ambition.

The former Barrow manager is amongst those who the fans are suggesting as well as the current Gateshead manager.

Already plenty of names being put forward including former PNE manager Ryan Lowe.

As long as they don't come knocking on our door for DA or his assistant who was well respected when a player at Carlisle.

Kind of hoping Ryan Lowe takes a couple of weeks re-charging his batteries, just in case we don't let soft lad back on the coach when we visit Barrow on Tuesday, would be kind of poetic.

Wow! Franchise FC were pre season favourites for Div 2. What sort of money must be involved to sack Simpson and buy out their new managers contract? We are definitely bottom of the food chain in this crazy league. Success at any cost or what?

I think Williamson has jumped before he was pushed as they have had a poor start.

Bizarre decision after all those signings, at a time that is too late for a new appointment to sign anyone. Whoever is appointed will have a huge squad, but none of their own players, while needing to be up for a relegation battle?

So how did that work out then?

Sparky will have his work cut out managing that huge squad. Hopefully for us it doesn't work out

We will have our work cut out trying to catch 1 team, never mind 2 if he does keep them up

It's gonna take Mark a good few games to find his best starting 11, especially with like 12 new signings by the previous Manager.

Carlisle, have come out worse off with this transfer window than they went in.
