Come on Andy, give Derek a break! He appears to have had two strikers lined up but didn't know the money wasn't forthcoming until the last few days. It's easy to be wise in hindsight.

not saying it in hindsight. look at previous posts, threads, platforms.

how naive to trust Jason Whittingham, when you dont have the money in the bank.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. You'd be criticising Derek if he'd signed two strikers and then Burgoyne got a long term injury last weekend and we couldn't afford to bring in a new goalie and were reliant on the youth goalie for the rest of the season.

It's not easy having to make tough decisions.

At least we seem to be close to having Angol fit and back playing, so that's like having a newly signed striker.

We needed a striker, but we needed the right one Derek had in mind, that he might have missed out on one or two in the last 3weeks is a possibility but he has been working on it.

Derek did say he had to bring in another goalie so that was also a priority so it ended up two out and two in to replace them.

There is still a smidgen of a chance we can bring in someone but in the end if we have to go with what we have that’s what we have to do. Just try moving someone else up front, it might be worth a try.

Don’t believe Derek can be blamed in this instance.

but i'm not saying it in hindsight, i was never confident of extra money in the transfer window, and i seen it as 1 out 1 in.

we knew what Jason was like.

you can all spin it how you like, but what a shit show.

Andy D

It is a S hit show, I don’t think anyone is disputing that, you are right, but who is responsible for that?

So to be clear, we had to bring in another goalkeeper as cover, do you accept that?

We moved out an attacking midfielder and brought one in, so that was an exchange of players through existing expenditure, do you agree with that?

Do you agree we did not have funds to buy a striker from another Club?

Do you agree we then had no option other than to look at the loan market?

What kind of calibre of Club can we do business with? do you agree that with the pot of money Derek was promised ment he was restricted to whom he could get and that took time?

The Club has to pay Wages and Bills and generally run the Club day to day, if it was looking as though funds would not be in place do you agree that the Club has done the right thing in making this public today?

If we brought in a striker in first do you agree with what happened we would now be without experience goalkeeper cover and a midfielder that will probably get more game time than Charlie who was released?

Lastly do you think because of today’s action there is a chance of money coming in before the transfer window is shut to get a striker in? (to be fare I don’t think there is much chance).

Oh sorry, what do you think of a change of style between now and the end of the season?

So if Burgoyne were to get injured we can sign an emergency keeper on loan outside of the window anyway, so why we had to get Schofield in over a Striker.. :?

If you're an employee earning say £2000 a month, then that is what you budget for, take off your mortgage, energy, council tax and what you have left goes on food and maybe extras.
Derek was 'promised' a budget for this month with maybe some extra, so off he went, offloaded a couple of players and went shopping.
How was he supposed to know that someone else's money was going to be used for other purposes.
Derek has been sh@t on from a very great height while trying to go about his business in a sensible manner IMO.
I would have walked in his situation

But I'm not surprised this would happen, i can't belive people still trust anything Jason says.

And Jason shit on Derek before , the last time Derek walked.

Agree Andy, I was expecting him to leave at the end of this month after he gets his wage, but after that interview it does seem he's hanging on in there.
Don't suppose he's had the offers this time round.

I suspect a very low turnout this weekend with the weather and a cloud hanging over the Club

I don’t think anyone is trusting Jason, that’s exactly why the decision was taken yesterday to announce the Club statement yesterday. They took the decision to be in a position to pay the wages if money from Jason was not going to be forthcoming for January wages and announced it yesterday because they don’t TRUST him to fill his obligations. He has history on that front!!

If anything they have highlighted once again how Jason treats this Club and who may well of once again failed to deposit the necessary funds the Club needs to fulfil its monthly obligations and that would have triggered the highly possible outcome of a points deduction. Money from Chelsea not come through and you cannot spend what we haven’t got when we are already running at a loss.

If that was the scenario Morecambe faced, with all due respect bringing in the calibre of striker Morecambe would get already means’s they would have to score a lot a of goals between now and the end of the season and it would mean at least getting one more victory if not more.

It was taken to get Morecambe FC to the end of the season without a points deduction giving them a better chance of staying up. If something can be sorted out between now and the end of next week, all well and good but we cannot TRUST HIM.

Nobody is saying we don’t need a new striker, it evident we do, your scenario was a risky gamble as well you know! It takes time to bring in loan players as opposed to someone out of contract wanting work.

I think it will be a forever a case that you have your opinion and others will disagree, up the Shrimps.

This is one of the sad results Mark. We have Rod appealing for all fans to support the club but the likelihood is that gates will drop. I know we can't compare our situation to Plymouth's but they sit adrift at the bottom of the Championship and week in week out they are maintaining gates of 15,000+ with hardly any drop.

Yes, Plymouth have a massive fan base. Unlike us they don't have a choice of big clubs to follow within an hours drive

The mentioning of a transfer embargo is worrying people and rightly so, the media have lashed on to it and the headlines don’t look good.

From the Club statement I took it that it is, if you like, a self inflicted embargo (not the best word), to decide Tim the interests of the Club to bring anybody else in the Transfare’s Window, so the board then has the financial means to fulfil its duties.

I know it's not a new signing but Lee Angol will feel like one

He could possibly be a bright spark in this tough period

Derek says not match fit but could be involved tomorrow or Tuesday
