Club sponsor?

Club sponsor?

Postby Christies Child » Mon Jun 01, 2009 4:35 pm

Anybody know who the official club sponsor is? It was drawn at the Sponsors 'do' but the Carlton PA is so crap that all we heard was a muffled voice announcing the winner. It's the same at every Carlton 'do' I've been to. The PA system is rubbish!

Little tip ;)

You'll need a size 5/0 hook to catch a "swid"
Bait: Premium Lager works well.

Happy fishing, and tight lines. ;)

I do believe the main club sponsor is "Bench"the one drawn at the sponsors night is for the tripod advertisement in the middle of the pitch before every home game.Bench are the ones forking out the money for shirt sponsorship.

I think Curly was insinuating that I would be offended. Not in the slightest.

The sound quality was crap. Not the PA actually, it was the poor quality of the Microphones.

It wasn't us either.

What's all this about a club sponsor? First prize gets an ad on the pitch pre-match and a page in the programme. Second prize half-page ad, etc. Unless we have a club sponsor and half club sponsor and quarter club sponsor, I'm not sure the two are related.

I find it incredible that companies pay good money to enter a draw to become the clubs sponsor and yet the club doesn't see fit to announce the winner in the form of a press release or even a mention on SVs.

If my company had won any such draw we would have expected some acknowledgement somewhere to that effect. Sorry, but this is no way to foster good relations between the club and the business community. Enough fuss (and rightly so) was made about Bench being the shirt sponsor, so therefore surely the club sponsor has a right to expect similar, irrespective of size or reputation.

Boardroom Hospitality at selected Conference matches

Exactly my point, it's not the same deal it used to be a few years ago. To me, club sponsor is the one that is given the most publicity i.e. Bench this year.

Until a few years back the shirt sponsor and the 'club' sponsor were one and the same thing. The lucky sponsor was chosen by way of the draw at the gala each year and their name went on the shirt.

But if you think about it, they were getting it very cheaply. Then (it may have been Wright and Lord) a company approached the club and offered a significant sum to guarantee getting their names on the shirts. The club didn't want to turn it down but, at the same time, also didn't want to dispense with the gala draw idea which brings in good money.

So they now offer shirt sponsorship for a price AND the 'club' sponsor via the draw. I assume they keep the 'club sponsor' title to keep it a high profile thing.

That aside, they should (and will soon I imagine) have the full list of sponsors on the club site soon. I think Quinny had to leave early and, with Peter leaving, it wasn't the same as other years.

I'd tell you but, as I was there in a personal capacity this time, I wasn't taking notes (and marky had plied me with drinks!)

And STILL we don't know who won the draw ! ! !

Not even anything in The Visitor (3rd June issue).

I'm beginning to wonder if the winners were "Sin Til Late" of Queen Street or somebody like ....

Could you imagine ...... !!!!

Was it not the other way round  Can't remember   Thanks to the whole table for making it a fun night. I have seen other moaners posting things but I'm glad to see my friends were not amongst them 8-)

As on another thread the Sponsor winners are on here:
