Feature starts around 18 minutes into the programme.

Hopefully the positive vibes of our Co Chairmen will see a successful outcome.

I have had a think about this and I feel that our Chairmen have had a shocker. You have the media shining a much needed light on the plight of the club, you have fans telling them that the end is nigh and that Whittingham speaks with fork tongue and then you have the Chairmen saying that there is nothing to worry about because a sale has never been closer! How have they got away with that? They ruined all the fantastic work done in getting the media attention in just 2 clips.

I was sat in the Cricket club listening to what Rod was saying and it was nothing like what he came out with on TV. Questions need to be asked of people within the club because that was a massive own goal.

What else can they say? They are in a 'professional' position within the club. If they say anything negative, Whittingham could sack them and impose a couple of his cronies to a new board. They could then syphon every penny out of the club and into Whittingham's bank accounts. I'd rather they say nothing, but remain in day-to-day control of the club. The Trust & protest group need to keep the pressure on.

But they didn't say.nothing, they totally went against the message from the Trust.

Are you.suggesting that our chairmen are Whittinghams puppets?

I tend to agree with BW. I have no doubt that the Board do a very difficult job without wages because they are fans of Morecambe FC and we should all be very grateful for that BUT (as I said in another thread) since Rod's statement calling Jason a liar the only words that come from the chairmen are that things are progressing slowly but surely. Unless that is totally true (which I doubt) it is the wrong message to be putting out to the media when we are trying to get everyone to help save our club. All it does is come across as "Well the fans may be concerned but the chairmen don't seem to be so it must be OK".

Shrimpsvoicers, it has been some time since I posted here, although I do post on MFC-related SM platforms at times. This is a personal reflection on this thread, not an "official" club statement. I read with interest that in the Granada Reports interview Graham & I, "had a shocker," "scored a massive own goal," "totally went against the message from the Trust," "ruined all the fantastic work getting the media attention," on and on.

For clarity, this is precisely what I said to camera; "I'm as confident now as I have been over the last two and a half years. I think it's the nearest we've been to a deal. We want to be able to expand on the playing squad in January so new funds coming in will be absolutely crucial to that." Fact. Perhaps people want us to lie or make things up for attention. Sorry, but that would not be at all helpful in bringing this saga to a close. Please remember that only a few seconds were aired out of many minutes of recording.

Regarding my comments on the ownership situation at the cricket club, I stated, amongst other things, that it was an ongoing process. I was not in a position to reveal any details of the potential purchasers, but we had met them and their representatives.

Graham, I & the rest of the BoD are puppets of no one. We are supporters of the club and care passionately about it. Over the past few months, we have had two senior personnel leave, and until the quality new appointments were able to take up their posts, we have given our absolute all to support our valued staff, ensure the day-to-day business runs smoothly, wages are paid and everything is in order to host football matches at the stadium. It may not always be apparent, as we do not shout about it, but running a football club is a massive and onerous responsibility. It takes an enormous amount of time away from family and business commitments to service that requirement, but we get on with it. Why? Because it means so much to us all, the town that it serves and represents, and the supporters who are the lifeblood of any football club. I sincerely hope and pray that calmer waters lay ahead and we can ALL work together and look forward to more good days in the future. COYS!

Well said Rod

Some of the grief the BOD get on here is shocking

They (especially Rod and Graham) have worked their socks off to keep this club from going under

They should be thanked from the hills not slaughtered by certain fans (some who should know better)

No surprise to some on this forum but I'm 100% behind the BoDs and in particular both Graham and Rod who do their best in keeping our club afloat despite all the knock backs that they get from thankfully a very, very small minority who would be the first to shout from the roof tops (or Maz roof if you prefer ;) ) if our beloved club went to the wall.

I wonder what many of those who find anything to complain about, would do if they had to negotiate with an absent owner who has told lie after lie about new owners on the horizon only to find that it was just another ploy in an attempt to keep us ALL quiet...... :?: :?: :?:

Without Graham and Rod we would have been scuppered a long time ago. Superb effort from them and the other directors to keep us going in incredibly difficult times.

Absolutely. Without them, we'd have been long gone, and playing in North West Counties at best.

I have just got up down under and I have just read Rod’s post on here. I have been questioned on here about some of the decisions the BOD’s have taken, but not overly. Maybe even now both Rod and Graham might believe they should have done some things slightly differently, but it would not have altered the position they are in or we as a Club are in. All in all we MUST all be grateful they are our BoD,s

I realise they have other commitments and are passionate about the Club as well as running it and keeping it going. Like others I believe the Club would be in a much worse position if they were not still in place. Just imagine if they had walked last year when they put out their joint statement or if Jason had sacked them and put his puppets in control.

For the record I think it was the editing of the piece with Rod and Graham as an interjection on what was a piece on the action by the Shrimps Trust and the passionate Morecambe fans. I thought Rod only said what people being interviewed from the Trust and fans were saying; a sale is needed and it’s nearly over the line we hope it passes!!

Nothing wrong with that, so well done Rod for posting on here and giving us your thoughts on the matter, perhaps as I have said better communication with the fans would help.

I hope nothing has damaged the relationship between the BoDs and the Shrimps Trust due to the report on Granada.
