Shrimpsvoices activity

A quick question for Keith.
With all the uncertainty and worry regards what's happening to MFC, how much of a reduction are we seeing regards to contributions to shrimpsvoices?

If I get some time, I'll try and look back, but it is certainly far quieter than ever before.

Perhaps it is self-fulfilling, few topics to read, people visit less often, which means there are less posts made, so fewer topics to read... I'm not sure if it is down to the uncertainty, or simply exhaustion with the uncertainty? Personally, I'm finding I read the Morecambe FC Facebook pages less often too. Other than the games, is there anything to discuss? I think there have been so many false dawns with regards to the ownership, people are perhaps just too weary?

I think the younger fans (middle aged and below) are tending to use other social media platforms these days rather than Facebook and specialist website based forums like this.

I know my son (early 20s) never comes on here nor Facebook, but seems to be always in group chats on Whatsapp, Tiktok, Instagram, etc. He has a few different group chats of his friends who go to home matches and another group of his friends who go regularly to most away matches. From what I can gather they're pretty active group chats and he tells me loads of things that are being said on them, including some "insider information" occasionally re new signings etc.

I think the younger people prefer "closed" groups of people they know rather than "open" groups like Facebook and websites which anyone can join.

Not just here either. I'm on several other fora on the internet, and most of them seem to be getting quieter and quieter as people lose interest or go "private" with their own closed group chats on other platforms.

I guess its a bit of being Exhausted as everything relates back to how JW treats the Club and because of being a funny old duddy I’m not on Facebook at all, X or Twitter or in a Whats App fans group.

That is a shame we should probably use those platforms and they should use ours. To be fair most topics would be the same but it’s good to see other fans point of view. We don’t have to agree, it’s good people see things differently and you would get a greater sense of consensus of opinion.

It's extremely quiet. All platforms have limited life spans, anyone remember My Space? Even FaceAche has run it's course, a platform I only have because of the Messenger service and I'm not sure I need that now.
I've read comments about legal proceedings for some of the things posted so it's no surprise to see the public facing platforms losing regular users when the likes of Telegram brand themselves as secure free platforms, say what you like on there.
Twitter went down the pan when it became X.
It always surprises me when I check in here and there's still some conversations but matches aside and thanks to the situation, they're often repetitive.

I’ve just deleted my twitter account because Elon Musk has turned it into a toxic cesspit, so will continue to check in on here for Morecambe FC related discussion.

I've never really used Twitter, but still have an account. I must admit, I keep thinking that deleting it would be best, as it really is hate-filled.

I don't post as much as I can't post from my PC as it won't let me anymore so I only post from my phone.
My PC let me edit photos, but they are always too big on my phone and it is a pain to edit them.

22,000 posts is still quite a lot tho

Ha, I can only assume it's something to do with the antivirus , but I'm not going to start fiddling with the settings

Strangely enough my phone now logs me out every time I go to another page, so I have to log in again even with keep me connected switched on

I watch more than post.
Strangely I have the same issue with being logged out each visit.

For better or worse the likes of Facebook, X and Instagram have taken over from the now old school forums.
Add in all the closed WhatsApp groups and people have enough means of post match chats with their mates.

In Derek's post match interview he ends by saying "we are going to catch many teams his season"

I believe Derek is an honest man so he isn't bull s***ing us and if he thinks we're going to be OK then that's good enough for me :D

I also get logged out after each visit or short period of inactivity, despite ticking the "keep me logged in" box. It's been like that for some time but I just get on with it. :)

Yes, it's very frustrating, and I can't work out why. Been like that for ages, to the point I'm the same, I just log on again without thinking about it!

Accessing the site or posting, it doesn't have a security certificate so often blocked by browsers, or you have to agree to proceed at your own risk.

Not remembering login details and logging you out. My browser won't even remember the login details I used and automatically fill them in, works for every other site  I did once know how to get around the forced logout years ago, now long forgotten. I think I used Keith's website address linked to the hosting account, something like arvixe-servername.com/shrimpsvoices but I'm also quite sure the account moved to a new server some time ago.

Maybe that is something the admin should look at, security on the site. It will put a lot off.

Is that still happening? It only happened to me once. I accepted the risk, and it's not come up again, including on different computers.

Chrome appears to be checking every so often, like accepting the warning is only temporary.

If it happens again, or to anyone else, please email, or post here, a screenshot (or paste text), so I can try to find out what's happening?

Thanks Marky.

It appears to be a certificate that expired four years ago! Not entirely sure what to do about it, but I'll have a look over the weekend.
