The silence of the board and the lies of the owner

The silence of the board and the lies of the owner

Postby fulwoodshrimp » Sat Jul 06, 2024 5:58 am

I am afraid the continuing and deafening silence of the board coupled with the broken promises of the owner will have a price to pay. I worry that many shrimp fans will grow tired of the ongoing situation and stop attending games causing yet more financial difficulties at a time when we least need that. The vat fiasco seems to be continuing when we were told it would be speedily resolved and the sale of the club promised by the owner doesn’t seem to be happening. Broken promises could take us to the brink of disaster. It will be interesting to see the attendance figures in the early matches- I suspect we might be shocked.

I really can't believe what's going on. If a sale is imminent, tell us. My only guess is there's a gagging order on the board. Surely they'd only accept this if they genuinely believe something positive is about to happen. We have been so patient for months but being treated like mushrooms is really wearing thin.

Not a truer word has been said, every time I’m asked what’s going on and I have to say, “I don’t know, nobody knows”!! Only to be met with groans and a disbelieving stare.

Thou I do think wearing thin should be replaced by ‘abstract despair’.

Well people can now book the Christmas Parties so they must think we will still be here by then !

Information used to come out at the Gala Dinner which is tonight but someone said there isn't even any player sponsorship , probably due to not wanting to reveal any names that may have signed or are going to sign. This seems crazy for a club in need of money to be turning down the chance to put some player sponsorship in the bank.

If everyone attending buys each board member a drink, we may get some information at about 3am. Thank you for your service! 8-)

I do feel that the club asks a lot of us as fans and at times communication is poor but I also feel that they have earnt enough respect for us to trust them to do what is best for the club. The Shrimps Trust has also found its voice and has good communication with the Directors which is a positive. We do have a clown for an owner but we have very good people on the Board. Not only are they very good people, they are Morecambe fans doing it for the love of the club.

We have a budget, we have the King back and we had over 30 players for the first day of training. Just because the signings haven't been announced doesn't mean that players haven't signed including some familar faces.

You are right in what you say about the board, we would probably be in a worse position without them. The stick I and others give is only because we are also fans.

I am relatively new in coming to support the Club, but I have never got as emotionally involved with a Club. The Irons will always be my first team, but I have not seen them live now for about six years and I love match-day, live football with all it brings has always been my thing.

I have really bought into supporting Morecambe for a number of years now. I hold a season ticket and regularly go into hospitality and I really enjoy it, I have made some good friends and long may it continue.

I understand why feeling are high and I have sting opinions but in the end I want Morecambe to come through their current situation? That I am aghast at how the ownership treats it and therefore I JUST WANT SOME BASIC INFORMATION, not all the ins and outs that will come out in time at the right time, to align my fears.

I do hope DA plays some of those guys who are training with us and takes a look at them in a game situation today, rather than putting a whole team of youngsters out, the season is approaching fast.
