Brilliant now let's hope he can work his magic in the loan market again. Noone better at creating a squad out of nothing at this level whatever you think of his football.

What does a rolling contract mean?

Month by month?

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!

Welcome back Derek. Long live the King!

We must have new owners. He wouldn't have come back with Jason still in charge.

Presumably, he can leave, without compensation being due, on one-month notice. Similarly, he can be sacked with only one-month pay, or no compensation if given one-month notice.

Being an eternal optimist, I suspect (hope!) that this is until the ownership situation is resolved, and he'll then get a longer contract.

So how did that work out then?

Until then there is nobody better to work on the budget of 50p that Jason will be providing, he'll probably build a promotion chasing side on it.

Brilliant, and unexpected news.... the king returns for a third stint.... the most successful manager in our history!

Interesting comment by James Wakefield:

"While we continue to face challenges, the situation at Morecambe has evolved sufficiently to enable us to hire into key roles and get on with the core business of being a football club.

"That means moving decisively to appoint a First Team Manager, and we can think of no-one better suited to that task than Derek. Having always maintained a strong relationship with him, we know he is capable of quickly building competitive teams, and that is exactly what is required.

We’re excited to see what he can achieve and are looking forward to working with him again."

I don't want to jump to conclusions... but given Derek left last time due to the unresolved ownership situation, and was linked to a US consortium looking to purchase the club and invest in it, I wonder if that means that there will soon be some real movement on new owners? If not it would seem odd for him to return at this time.... because if anything we are in a worse situation now than when he left if there is no movement.
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!

I think it means that there is always a year left on the contract if either party decide it is to end.

Wow. Yet at the same time, I don’t know why I’m so surprised

Given the current situation, this is probably the most logical and best possible appointment we could make.

Welcome back Derek, do your thing.

I'm not convinced we are out of the woods yet (or Derek would have signed a longer contract) but at the very least it looks like we have enough funding to keep going for next season.

He left because of broken promises from Jason over the last couple of years and he would not have come back if Jason wasn't at the very least on the way out. You are right that we aren't out of the woods yet but we are seeing daylight through the trees. :D :D

Return of the King!

I just hope he says a bit longer this time and things are actually improving off the pitch.

He's a marmite character in the lower leagues, so I think he's best off with us, where he can get away with his honest media interviews ;)

We are on the Sky Sports Headlines at the moment. Morecambe appoint Derek Adams on a rolling contract and Chelsea appoint the former Leicester City manager at Stamford Bridge !

I’m sure that all they mean is that there is no fixed term. So in other words, it continues until it is terminated by either party by giving notice to the other. Given the predicament we appear to be in, I would imagine that Derek has managed to negotiate some very Derek friendly notice provisions. It’s obviously great news that there is someone through the door to get on with the job of conjuring a competitive squad out of thin air (and we know that Derek is very good at that), but I’m not reading any great deal of positivity into this re ownership issues - remember that Derek is (or was) unemployed, maybe this is just a summer job to keep him ticking over!

Brilliant news, just what the club needs in it's current position. He's done it before and is the right (only) man to do it again. Just hope it means there's good news incoming on the ownership situation.

Indeed I think his personality, tactics and methods are much better with an underdog team. I always wondered if the reason he struggled at places like Bradford was that players on higher wages just wouldn't buy into his methods where as with us where we have players more desperate to prove themselves they are more willing to go along with it hoping he can turn them into a better player.

Has he brought the Americans with him?

No at least we know what we are getting and what he is capable of doing.

Here’s hoping he’s a bit more expressive in his tactics, but no sense in being greedy!

Let’s now see who he can get to come to our Club and if you haven’t got your season tickets go get one now.

Also please think about helping the Shrimps Trust in their efforts to raise money, even if it in the end just brings a proper fan zone to the Club it will be something that enhances the experience.

Long live the king! I've gone from despondency to positivity in a few short hours.

I wonder if any of the players who had decided not to sign new contracts would now reconsider?
