John Day

John Day

Postby Keith » Sun May 19, 2024 3:22 pm

I've been asked to pass on the sad news that John Day passed away last night. John was a great guy, and a long time Morecambe supporter, who will have been known by many. John's health had been declining for a few years, but he retained a stubbornness, positivity, and a sense of humour. As well as a love of food!

His love of Morecambe FC was passed on to Alison & Peter. Deep condolences to both of them, and John's extended family. He'll be missed.

Very sad news.

I knew John and his dear wife Barbara from my days at Torisholme Methodist church.

Had numerous friendly disagreements with John about MFC but his passion for our club will always be remembered.

My sincere condolences to Alison and Peter and John's extended family.

His absence from the Maz will be sorely missed.

I used to go out of my way to pay cash into his post office, just so we could have a chat & a laugh.
A very nice chap.

Such sad news and my condolences to Peter and his family.

John was another I classed as the "old school". I can picture him in my mind now stood behind the goals at Christie Park from my first days way, way back in 1985.

A fountain of knowledge on Morecambe FC and, more importantly, a thoroughly nice chap.

Rest in peace Sir John. :(

John's funeral is on Friday 7th June.

Everyone is invited to Lancaster Crematorium at 11:30am followed by Torrisholme Methodist Church at 12:30pm. Then the football club at 1:45pm. The family said they realise people are working, so if anyone wants to pop in for a drink after work that would be great. We have the Mazuma till 8pm. If you are coming please contact Peter on 07533002401 just for catering.
