O/T MI MIX 2 Special Edition mobile App problem

My wife has been given the above brand new mobile and is having problems installing her app for her First Direct Bank Account.

Has anybody else had problems with this specific mobile and the FD App as it appears other bank apps will load with no problem.

It appears that her mobile although new is operating on Android 7 and that FD app will only operate on Android 9 and above.

Hopefully we can update her Android from 7 to at least 9 BUT too complicated for the old fool so will have to take guidance from expert.... as maybe her phone is unable to do upgrades of Android.
