Carlisle hoping to bring in 3 or 4 defensive players in next few days and there will be outgoing players to offset the cost.

One of them is apparently Cole Stockton who is likely to move on according to the local newspaper.

Carlisle fans won't miss him.

(Un)officially rated as their "worst player ever" according to their forum.....

Wonder if this had happened earlier if we would have been interested? Just a shame we couldn't arrange for Oliver to be released and brought him back on board. Also I'd let Campbell go out on loan or even be moved on. Stockton has now signed a 1 year deal at former club Tranmere.

On Sunday I bumped into Gary Hunter on Morecambe prom walking his labrador, he's now at L&M College at the football academy.

Apologies if it has been mentioned on here previously.

Has he found his level yet? However arrogant he allegedly was it must be a hell of a come down when you’re a Liverpool player and bigging yourself up to your mates, then telling them you’re getting some game time at tinpot Morecambe but it won’t be for long, only to find you’ve been dumped and end up in part-time football. It’s a cruel world.

Just had a look at a couple of our ex-defenders to see what they’re up to.

Alex Whitmore is now at Grimsby after leaving relegated Chesterfield; Liam Wakefield is dropped down to play with Boston United; Chris Doyle has signed for Marine; Adam Dugdale is at Warrington Town with Jack Dunn and Laurence Wilson has moved on to Connah’s Quay Nomads.

We need more players going on to better things than falling down the leagues.

Depends on your description of better things.
Salford have doubled Redshaws money.
Miller is now back at his spiritual home at Crewe on a longer contract after his rehab here.
Devitt is player of the year at Carlisle again on a longer contract.
Barkhuizen is first choice right forward for Knob end.
Stockton is on double our top paid player at Tranmere, which is why we couldn’t sign him.

Not bad for lowest budget persistently in the lowest division.

But we do have take players on the way down too, and inevitably if they still want to play they will drop down out of the league to carry on.

That’s a fair point and I didn’t explain it very well. I meant more of the Bairkhuizens who we get some really good value out of and sell on.

If half of the young players who left progressed to bigger clubs we’d be doing very nicely ourselves.
