Cole Stockton Generally?

If his attitude didn't stink he could have been looking at an upper league one, lower championship move in the summer but realistically he'll have to settle for lower league one, probably league 2 move.

Shame the way it has gone but can't wait until he's out of the club now.

I think he’s 100% leaving this summer and that would partly explain his lack of application for us in recent games.

His desperation to go to Fleetwood shows that his main motivation is money - rightly or wrongly - and I wouldn’t even be surprised to see him do a Paul Mullin and go to one of the national league sides who have money. Perhaps he’ll go to a league side but I really think his actions have come at a massive cost to his own career - and our survival. Whilst relegation can’t be blamed on one player, he’s really not helped us this season.

Ironic really that Stockton will be playing League One football next season. Given the fact that him sulking for months was one of the reasons that we find ourselves in League Two.

Indeed. Possibly playing in front of lower crowds than we had in L1 and another relegation battle. Still, he's probably got a salary uplift but plenty more time commuting.

Still, one of our best ever players who was involved in most of our best moments of the last three years. Thanks for the memories

Of course he's not happy, he's done jack shit at any other club other than us.

Would we take him back after his big sulk last season? Who knows. Probably couldn't afford him right now anyway.

Just supposing Mellon gets a recall in January by Burnley who want to test him in EFL1 are we being so pedantic not to even consider seeking a loan deal for Cole... :?: :?: :?:

OK he in some eyes acted like a child but we all know what he is capable of and let's not forget that we are the only club he has ever been a success at.

I for one would welcome him back in place of Mellon if it came to it.... :)

Not for me thank you , if it hadn’t been for his sulking we might not have suffered our first ever relegation !

Agree with you Bill. There's no doubt that Cole played his part in getting us promoted and in staying up in the first year and we must not forget that but the way he acted until near the end of the second season played a part in our relegation and was unforgivable.

It seems likely that Alan Nixon receives a retainer from Cole's agent to get his name known to football managers that he is looking for a transfer.

I think we may have to look for a striker if Michael Mellon continues to score goals. EFL 1 clubs (Derby was mentioned) may approach Burnley. Maybe Burnley would prefer him to stay here playing regular games rather than bench-warming.

Another way to look at it is, the only manager to ever get a tune out of him was Stephen Robinson. He'd be a better fit at St Mirren than back with Derek Adams, surely.

Definitely 'no' from me. One of the key positives of the current squad is their togetherness and willingness to work hard, for each other. The Incredible Sulk could easily ruin that if he comes in with a Billy Big Bollocks attitude, or if he doesn't get his own way. If Derek decided to bring him back, then I'd be 100% behind him, but I'd rather not.

I'm hoping that Burnley will want Mellon to have a season of 'success', and build confidence. He could go to Derby, but get fewer hours of game time. Bench warm in League One, or first name on the team sheet in League Two?

I can't see him coming back but stranger things have happened. No doubt, Cole cost us points early last season. However he was amazing for two seasons before. Footballers have a short career, his agent unsettled him and he reacted poorly to the club holding firm on his valuation. The reality was though he sulked for a few weeks, lost his place in the team and lost his form. This eventually came back and his goals in the last ten matches actually bought us back within a whisker of survival. Personally, if his hunger is there and his wages are reasonable, I'd bring him back.

I don’t want him. The signing of Michael Mellon has proven that there are other players out there who are just as capable and actually want to play for us.

Good point about the “Billy Big Bollocks” Keith , it’s something that doesn’t seem apparent in our squad !

No from me.

We have a team working hard for each other, we don't need anyone coming in that would rock the boat.

Derek Adams has always come across as a manager who believes strongly in teamwork, work ethic and the ability to fight . After having Cole on the books last year I don't think any of us need worry (or in some cases hope) that he'd even consider Cole again.
