Scum

Didn't Fleetwood 'inherit' some thugs who used to follow Blackpool until they were banned? Wonder if they were the same morons?

And we 'welcome' the morons in the not too distant future. Deep joy!

My experiences of Fleetwood idiots go back over 40 years as a teenage Morecambe fan both at their ground and Christie Park. A very violent and objectionable group who completely spoilt the enjoyment of watching a game. Seems like a leopard never fully changes it's spots. Maybe Mr Pilley can give us some assurances that his clubs 'fans' won't wreak the same havoc in our town as they did in Accrington this weekend. If not can we just withhold tickets from them?

Andy had an eventful night on the old Twitter last night. I can't work out if he was pissed up or he has been hacked but it is must see!

For context, it all stems from a recent Jimmy Bell interview on Bbc Lancs.

Can you screen shot the posts, for the non-Twitter users?

Interesting. .Many of us (including myself) have been grumbling about the lack of news/info coming from our board about potential sale etc. BUT .......... I much prefer that to all this stuff on social media re Accy. Bloody awful for everyone at Accy surely.

Wow! I see what you mean!

A short selection of the more surprising ones... I know they are our rivals, and there is a slight sense of schadenfreude, but this is not going to end well. And we thought we had ownership problems?

As much as I hate to have to say this.....but Accy to a prospective buyer are probably more marketable than we are. I could well see a Wrexham style buy out being of appeal to an organisation wanting some extensive media coverage.

They are lucky in the sense that Holt won't sell them down the river but can you see Coley wanting to turn up to work tomorrow after his Employer has put all that in the public domain?

Accy being up for sale doesn’t do us any good, that I agree with.
However, it’s a double edged sword, they are 5 miles from Burnley in the Premier and Blackburn in the Championship, and despite their best efforts, crowds in League 1 were poor. So yes, they have a famous name for a dubious reason which may well help them find a buyer. However, if that buyer does their research, if they are hoping to grow the club and fan base, as Andy Holt has found, it’s a one way ticket to spending all your money. That may suit someone, who is originally a local and wealthy, ( which probably precludes them from being interested in us tbf).
Whereas we have almost doubled our fanbase in recent years, and held on to considerably more of them than we expected following our demotion, so as DA has already hinted at, we are ripe for further expansion. So while we don’t have the name or notoriety, we are possibly a more attractive proposition than Stanley to a foreign investor, in my opinion.

Following Andy Holts latest outburst with intrigue... he has done this before. Like BerlinWaller I couldn't decided if the Accy owner was pissed-up or pissed-off on Saturday night; but I actually now think its both!

I couldn't disagree more with this notion that Stanley are more marketable than we are.... They have a famous name but IMO we are demonstrating that we have far more potential to any would be owner looking for a project. When you lift the lid on things lets be honest, Accy are propped up beyond a level where they can self-sustain themselves by the generosity of a local benefactor that has more brass than sense. Even when times are good, they struggle to attract 2,000 home fans in a smaller catchment area with greater local competition for support locally. Compare that to Morecambe where we currently attract gates of 4,000 and have over 2,500 season ticket holders despite having an owner that wants to sell and has never really invested the sums that Andy Holt has had to do.... it took a decade for us to get a bus shelter at the back of the home end to keep fans dry at half time; Andy holt has invested millions on a training ground and in the last 5 years developed both sides of the ground with new stands and club facilities.

Apparently Mr Holt put in £90k last month - that's cash on top of everything else he puts into the coffers each season via sponsorship deals he levy's against his other companies; which presumably would also stop should he wish to sell.

With Andy Pilley behind bars and Mr Holt seemingly wanting to sell, Scouseport could will have some traditional local derbies to look forward to again in no time at all.

Sorry to disagree RRW but if you are the Marketing Director of a company who look for every opportunity to put your name in front of the widest audience possible then for me the Accy brand is a far more marketing animal than our own club.....despite our club having greater potential in the long term BUT companies demand a return on their investment asap.

Accy have considerable media coverage due to their history and media presence in the past and that could be built on given the right conditions.

It will be interesting to see if they achieve a sale ahead of ourselves.....I sincerely hope not but it could well happen.

However until Jason lowers his asking price then we may unfortunately remain in limbo with all the implications and baggage that that will bring going forward.

Nobody is investing in Morecambe or Accrington for a ROI - one club is more sustainable that the other, and has demonstrated that it has potential to grow despite having had substantially less investment into it during the last decade.... It is not Stanley.

An ROI is not always about monetary gain. Increased market exposure and connections to a brand name is of greater importance to some companies who could benefit ( :?: ) from a better public profile.

Somehow think that we see things differently on this one RRW..... :)

So the talk by DA about overseas interest in Morecambe has gone quite! Now another club near by up for sale or is it!! Morecambe’s current owners are about taking money out of the club by giving the club a loan, not the only one, and then come collecting and making a profit. I don’t know if Andy Holt does/did that but he must be a bit browned off, is it just a rant to put off his staff? So competition now for someone to come in and buy a football club and if our owner is not prepared to sell for what he is asking for our club, Accrington will probably sell before us and would that be who is interested in us? Lumbered with our current owner.

Wouldn't it cost a lot more money to buy Accrington due to the assets they have compared to what MFC actually owns?

Holt bought the land that the ground is on and don't they have a training ground? The ground that our stadium is built upon is protected by a trust and the land beside the HF has a mortgage against it. What other assets does our club have?

Holt has lent AS money to relay the pitch, would he want that back or would he convert them in to shares?

I’d seen Andy Holt had posted again on Twitter this morning to reassure parent of the youth set up (all ages) at Accy, that he would only sell to a potential buyer who would have the best interest of youth development in mind. I think he mentioned he had started talking with potential buyers already, which had me thinking, if Accy were to be sold with all the T’s crossed and I’s dotted and ratified with the EFL before the sale of MFC, despite being up for sale way before them. Would we then need to start asking some serious questions as to what is actually going on and what is genuinely holding up the sale of MFC?!

I think we've already started asking those questions without getting any satisfactory answers.

I think it is pretty well known that there are interested parties in our club but the Owner has set an unrealistic value on the club. That is why he was so keen to offload to SARB but now that they are not in the picture, let's hope he sees sense!

But it still DOES come back to money and monetary gain. That's because you can "buy" increased market exposure and connections to a brand name buy investing in advertising and marketing. Of course, you can achieve the same by buying a football club, changing the stadium name, buying sponsorship/advertising on boards and shirts etc. So the question does come back to ROI, i.e. how much would it cost to "buy" marketing and advertising for the same impact/effect as buying a football club to achieve the same market exposure.
