Didn't expect that, amazing, so happy for Derek and seeing him celebrate after the Bantams gave him so much stick.
All I can say is cheer up, Mark Hughes ....

An excellent result but one good result. The pessimism was rife only a week ago after the Mansfield game so by all means grasp the hope and celebrate today's win but add a bit of realism and see where we are after 10 games.

We have now played 5 competitive games. In 4 of them we have been either good or very good. In 1 game we were very below par. Only 1 goal conceded in 3 home games. We have a 19 year old striker on 3 goals (who's Stockton anyway !).

I am optimistic we can have a good season , by that I mean above the 12th position and flirting with play-offs although that may be just too much.

Good to see Jake Taylor coming on again and contributing by being fouled for that elusive penalty.

If he is fit and well its like another new signing for us.

I used to enjoy watching highlights (video) on own website. Why is there nothing like that these days?

Thanks B B, but that link is to I-follow. I run a business in Cyprus and will not go anywhere near that!!! Not usually accessible out here anyway. Is that the only way to see stuff?

Well deserved victory and out played a very poor and jaded Bratford team.

Our young forwards are getting better and better with every game BUT concerned that they will run out of energy as the season progresses and for that reason we need to have alternatives in the squad.

So pleased for DA who was obviously more than pleased to put one over on his former charges.

Nice one DA......

Why do you see iFollow as a problem? You could subscribe and watch every game live, including Saturday matches.

So how did that work out then?

Hi Keith.
It does actually seem that I-follow has now been sorted over here (just spoken to a mate over here who is a "wizz" with the internet etc.) Thanks. Hopefully I can now watch us this season. Regards to all back in Morecambe.

What a great performance and result.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t rate Michael Mellon last season and was a bit underwhelmed when we re-signed him on loan for this season. Looks like I was wrong though - he’s come back looking strong, aggressive and playing well beyond his years in terms of his overall game. A complete centre forwards performance yesterday - well done Michael. Should have had another penalty when he was hauled to the ground by the Bradford centre half at the end of the first half though…

Despite Mellons exploits, Songo’o was my MotM. In the thick of it all game, getting in faces and looking surprisingly cultured on the ball at times. He proved a point against his former employers.

Which brings me onto Derek… I loved the celebrations at the end and the wave up at the Bradford directors as he walked down the tunnel - which was met with some stony faced expressions

A lot of managers prefer to take players on their second loan spell if they can, and I think Mellon's performances this season are a testament to why. He's already had a taster of EFL football and has learnt about what it'll actually take to succeed, and has consequently gone away and put the work in to get to that level, as well as being more mentally prepared.

Excellent performance yesterday. Do genuinely think our side looks really well balanced and has some good quality in areas. Hopefully we'll continue to see that quality come out more and more as the players continue to gel, as we saw in particular for the second goal yesterday. Hard to pick a stand-out, although on reflection Love had an excellent game, and of course Mellon was superb. Songo'o probably edges it for me though. And while depth is an issue in some areas in the squad, it certainly isn't in central midfield. To be able to bring Davenport and Taylor on like we did offers a serious set of options, and I think both helped maintain or levels going into the last 20 minutes.

Derek at the end :D

I agree with your summary Little Shrimp and accept the worries I had earlier were wrong. DA seems to have assembled a decent side and Mellon is looking formidable.

Still early days yet so let's see where we are after 10 games BUT the results to date have been encouraging in spite of not having the lions share of the play but as we know DA's policy is to let the opposition have the bulk of the play without actually doing much with it as we have seen over the years under his management.

Long may it continue bringing the results we all want.
