I know we were short of numbers but it just feels like we are signing players to bulk up the squad and nothing more

Quite a few gambles but hey ho sometimes they do pay off !!!!

Personally think we need at least 4 or 5 more experienced players to add to the very young squad

Welcome JJ
21 year old playmaker from Watford academy.
Northern Ireland youth International.
Stepping up to men's football(?), having played at Eastleigh on loan.
Sounds good to me.
Who'd want to smell like you?

43 National League appearances for an Eastleigh side that just missed out on the playoffs. One of the most highly rated young players in the National League last season. Good description here, complimented on his skill and work rate, as well as doing well in a generally more physical side. Read below:

Seems like a great bit of business by Derek. Do your research properly instead of just looking at a player's Wikipedia!

The average age of the signings we made last week is 28. That's pretty experienced in my opinion.

The King and Prince Greg have good eyes for players so trust them.

Sounds as though DA is putting a lot of faith in signing players that he can develop which given our finances is the only way we can proceed.

Can't recall which club it was but another club adopted a similar policy and it was an excellent move.

I've never heard as much tripe. Stokes and Yann are pretty experienced I would say.

He’s highly rated by Eastleigh fans and seems to be considered a genuine prospect who belongs in the EFL. For sure we’ll need experience but this looks like a good signing to me.

My only niggling concern is that we only seem able to hand out one year contracts (presumably because we are only able to budget for the next 12 months under the current arrangements with Bond Group). It will be a shame if we develop some youngsters into valuable players who then leave next summer for nothing. Equally, it must be a bit harder for us to attract quality players at the minute if we can’t offer 2 year deals.

Yes , I agree about the 1 year contracts. It's not a problem with the ones age 23 and younger as long as we offer them an improved contract then they can't sign for another EFL club without compensation. They could sign for Scottish clubs though like with McGowan and then we get Jack Sh*t.

Sounds like an excellent signing to me. With Songo'o doing the dirty work, breaking up play and JJ being young, hard-working, & creative, if they can get on each other's wavelength it could be a good partnership.

A couple of strikers we have been linked with are Kurtis Guthrie and James Wilson.

Guthrie is at Livingston in Scotland. He is 6ft 3in and numbers Accrington Stanley in a long list of previous clubs.

James Wilson is without a club having left Port Vale. 6 feet tall and started off at Manchester United and played a few games for them. Not a prolific scorer but he wouldn't be available if he was. May be someone The King can improve.

Wilson's a quality player at this level, don't be fooled by the goal record. Would have been on very good money at Vale though and Salford before that. Can't see us tempting him to sign unless that Furocity sponsorship deal is something silly!

I just looked at the first team details on our official website.

It includes all the new signings such as Stokes , Moore etc.

Also included is Josh Austerfield who we had on loan last season from Huddersfield.

Anyone seen anything about us signing him ?

The site also has Souare and Simeu down as our players so maybe just not updated.

Can't understand why all the new signings are going on sites other than OWS. Just been looking and it's still full of last seasons squad. Needs updating rapidly.

Our first team squad on the OWS has been updated since yesterday and now shows all 17 players we have signed on.

Maybe have some more players on show at Warrington today and Southport on Tuesday as the squad is well short of numbers at the moment (personally think we need at least 6 more in the building sooner rather than later)

It has certainly gone quiet lately, not even any rumours knocking about. Some of our released players from last season, still don't appear to have clubs, so perhaps some options there? We really don't want to be Last Minute Dot Com, and have panic signings who don't have a chance to train with the squad, before the season starts. With only three weeks to go...

Josh Austerfield is currently on tour with Huddersfield

No sign of Kieran Phillips in the squad of 22 that have travelled to Devon / Cornwall
