Welcome home Adam.

https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2023/j ... r-shrimps/

Hopefully you can fill the shoes of Connor our outstanding keeper of last season.

Wonder if Andre da Silva will also be back as our No2 goalkeeper.... :?: :?: :?:

New squad starting to build from the back.... ;)

Adam has seemed decent enough in the few times he has played. Unfortunately Connor's form kept him out of the team but should get a proper opportunity this season.

Hopefully this means we sign a few more released players back. Can't imagine Andre Da Silva was on massive wages and we've had him on the books long enough that I'd like to see him promoted to at least backup keeper.

I have a feeling we might offer Hunter a new deal also, Derek clearly been a big fan of his for years and never really got going last season with his injury.

Delaney has also improved massively over the last couple of years and could certainly do a job at league 2.

Agree with most of this. Andre on the bench will be okay for cover. Hunter, I'm not sure, it depends upon fitness. And, I'd certainly have Delaney back.

Worth bearing in mind Andre Mendes was released so he’s not actually still with us. However, he’s so highly-rated and settled in the locality that I’d be surprised if he doesn’t return.

Good signing in my humble opinion

Hopefully will be number 1

Maybe thats the reason he agreed to sign

I wasn’t sure whether he was good enough to be first choice in league one but he’ll probably be good enough for league two. Gives some some continuity and means it’s one less ‘brand new’ player to bed in. Deserves his chance to be number one, too - he’s been very patient.

I was just thinking of the released list those are the ones I could see Derek returning too.

Gibson, Stockton, Duffus, Obika and Crowley have already joined new teams.

Ripley has all but confirmed he won't play in league 2, not sure Niasse or Souare would either but I thought the latter was decent and got the impression Derek liked him too so slim chance there maybe.

That leaves Delaney, Hunter, Da Silva Mendes, Gnahoua and Cooney as the only realistic options to go back to.

Of the 5 who have already signed elsewhere I wouldn't have wanted Duffus or Obika back. I never expected Stockton or Crowley to come back. I was hopeful of Gibson but not to be.

Of the other realistic options I would welcome back Delaney and Hunter. I think Cooney was already leaving judging by his agent's tweets advertising his client's availability etc. I think we can sign better players than Gnahoua and Da Silva Mendes.

Da Silva Mendes would probably be a reasonable, and reasonably cheap option for sitting on the bench, freeing up funds elsewhere.

With a hard pre season behind them I'd think that both Niasse and Souare would be good squad players especially Niasse who could be excellent with a decent pre season in the tank. He showed enough last season to be a very clever footballer and could do an excellent job with his speed of thought and ability to take on and bamboozle the opposition in tight situations.

It would of course all depend on his fitness so a 6 month contract with a further 6 months available would be a good deal for both player and club to see if he can get and retain the fitness levels demanded by DA.

Yeah I got the same impression with Cooney, personally I quite like him but don't think Derek is massively keen and that thing his agent put out does suggest he won't be coming back.

I would probably take Niasse and Souare but I get the impression their short deals were probably done on the cheap to get them back in the shop window for a better move up the pyramid, I'd be surprised if either wanted to play in league 2. On the other hand they were hardly swamped with offers last season and might appreciate getting a full season under them.

I'm indifferent towards Arthur, haven't been massively impressed with him for the last 2 seasons but he's had his moments and I'm sure he would do a job at league 2.

Derek is keen on signing Alex Gilliead , a 6 feet tall midfielder , out of contract at Bradford. Derek signed him for Bradford.

And fans have already started moaning about our new striker on ‘facecloth’. Jesus give it a rest & be happy for once it’s getting boring now. New season, lots of new faces coming in, new challenge and this will be Dereks team! Charlie doesn’t have the best goal record in the world but sometimes strikers are not all about goals but have other qualities. IMO fans are going to like what they see in Charlie. He’s a young but very talented and skilful player who likes to run at defences and this will be his 1st time at this level, having played in league1, with Chelsea academy and abroad. A welcome addition who had other offers

I know I need glasses at ti especially but sure I read on club twitter about another signing imminent but when checking who it was it seems to have gone. As I said maybe I donned some glasses after all.

Thought he would be Accy bound.

Good luck to him. Deserves a good club.

Whilst watching channel 7 '70's music' about 5:30 this evening something surreal happened! They have a brief news and sports section and the sports news consisted of nothing else but Charlie Brown signing for Morecambe. Nothing else, just that for about 2 minutes. If it had been a big Premiership signing then maybe, but EFL 2 news, WTF.

Anyway welcome Charlie. You have big Stockton type shoes to fill (hope you don't have a shit attitude like him), but you have joined a great family type club and we will back you to the hilt.

Arghh wrong place. Meant to put this on the Charlie Brown thread but too late it's on here now

UTS.
