Well, there's a statement to save. (Just in case the public comments turn out to be accurate and helpful  )

I suppose that puts extra pressure on themselves to get this one right, though?

Looks like he didn't provide all the info they needed first time, maybe he forgot to send them the finance section!

'Inappropriate and unhelpful'! The EFL must realise we very nearly got shafted before and all we want is to make sure that doesn't happen again.

At least the EFL say they have noted such comments so it's not the fans fault if this goes t**s up. The blame will fit squarely on their doorstep. Come on EFL let's see how good your diligence test is!

No approval on any change of control at Morecambe will be made until the proposed purchaser and Club satisfy in full the requirements of the EFL’s Regulations and the appropriate levels of due diligence are completed.

Have the EFL forgotten just how crap they've been in the past? They've a track record of letting any skint charlatan buy a club, having bull*****d their way through the 'fit & proper person' test.

I trust the EFL as little as I trust anyone involved in buying our football club at the moment. Let's see the cash and where it has come from and, perhaps, see the EFL do their job properly.

So how did that work out then?

I think the statement is more having a dig at outlets which gave the incorrect impression that Sarb Capital had basically sealed the deal to take over the club, when we can now clearly see that this is far from the case. Could maybe have been worded a little better though.

Regarding the thoroughness of the EFL test, it is meant to be a lot more robust nowadays since Bury and with the government breathing down the EFL's neck with the threat of an independent regulator.

I know it reads a bit funny but I think it's probably because the EFL has to toe some kind of line of neutrality and avoid any legal issues. Overall I think this is a positive statement - it clears up some confusion over the timeline of when documents have been handed in, clarifies that not all the documents requested have been provided and publicly calls out Sarb Capital for failing to provide them. It would seem that Mr Johal is a long way from passing the test, despite some of the claims he's made to the Trust.
