My Scarboro supporting Son in Law commented about the potential new owners that he hoped that we would not become nothing more than a 'play thing' and that as soon as times got rough he / they would ditch us....and leave us in a real mess even possibly dissolve the club.....

Not sure if it could happen but one never knows..... :?: :?: :?:

I think that will be a concern at the back of our minds regardless of who the new owners are - unless they are die hard Morecambe fans and unfortunately that looks very unlikely so it’s a risk we have to live with.

Bought for around a million, sat on it, try selling for 20 million in 4 years? Mmmm.
Common sense dictates that’s bollocks, despite what the Dail Fail says!

To have bought it for around a million, then that would suggest that they actually parted with 1 million quid. This may be wrong, but from what I've seen, that was loaned and repaid by the club and now they're asking for more on top.

At the end of the day, what they are doing is completely legal - they saw an asset they could get on the cheap and flip - it so happened to be a football club. Could have been anything. It would be nice though if they didn't take the complete piss and sell it to someone who has no connections to the club.

Surely OUR club isn't worth £20million.....silly paper talk...

£5 million would sound about right but we'll never know the actual value :?: :?: :?:

IF this deal is completed and I for one am very suspicious of the financial assets of the named potential buyer(s) I just hope that the owner(s) keep our excellent BoD in place and not replace them with 'family'......a repeat of the Diego fiasco is the last thing that OUR club needs.

Unfortunately the prospect of a local consortium taking ownership seems unlikely...

I reckon that this sale , like the last one, doesn't hinge on how much money the buyers have, but on how its paid to the old owners.

I would of thought is was close to being finalised when it was leaked of new owners

But that leak could have been a way of trying to start a bidding war with a local millionaire who once said he may buy it and throw money in

Now who would benefit from that I wonder???

Let's see if they turn up at next Saturday's home game against Bristol....that should give some indication as to whether they're still interested...

It's a funny one the EFL test - I think when it comes to the proof of funds side of things it's more a case of 'not passing' rather than having a go failing like an exam.

Several fans have had a good look and there does not appear to be any real amount of funds behind this bid. Based on the information available, they are nowhere near being able to pass.

My concern would be if they were able to raise funds via whatever risky/unscrupulous methods in order to pay Jason and pass the test, then the sale would go likely through and after that we could be in a bad situation.

At the end of the day, I don't think Jason will care at all how the funds are raised as long as the agreed figure gets deposited into his bank account. However, it's very questionable whether the reported bidders will actually be able to produce anything at all.

RE the Mail article, it looks like it came from Sarbjot's end if I'm honest. Seems like a misguided attempt to inflate himself and drive hype for his bid, hence the ridiculous £20 million figure quoted and the Tyson Fury namedrop, despite him never genuinely being interested. All it's actually done is shine a light on the fact that he appears to have no money.

I'm glad that fans on here are starting to question the potential sale. I do find it strange that people don't talk about it on the Morecambe Facebook page.

The thing is that posters on here or FB have no power nor influence, so it's really pointless questioning the proposed sale, etc. It's not as if Rod, Graham and the other Board members won't be having exactly the same misgivings, and likewise are powerless (like they were last time), other than to do their best (again) to keep the club going as best they can. Realistically, what do you think fans can do to prevent us "sleep walking into another disaster"?? We're just powerless spectators. Unless you have a cunning plan for the supporters to raise several million to buy the club and another few million to develop it?

The fact they talked their way into the directors box for multiple games suggests to me there could be some funding behind the scenes that we're not seeing. Otherwise you'd think our board and current owners might have done the same research as us and seen that there is no evidence of the guy having any money. I don't think they'd entertain hosting him and his entourage without some kind of proof that these guys are serious bidders.

Can't be that easy to talk your way into the directors box can it?
