The worst thing he can do is perform badly now. If it was me (50 years ago! ) I wouldn't sign a new contact but would play my best under the existing contract until Xmas when price on his head will have to come down and he'd have a better chance of getting away.

Very similar to what was suggested on Friday during the Radio Lancashire Sports show. It was suggested that the club should given him the increase in money but no contract until the end of the season at which time he could leave with the clubs thanks.

Not sure about the increase in money, perhaps a nice bonus for each goal scored?

Apparently Fleetwood are chasing Huddersfield striker Danny Ward on loan

If this is the case maybe they have lowered their chances of signing Cole ??

Am I the only one who thinks 'just go'?

Having an unhappy player, moping around isn't good for anyone. The only way we're staying up, is 100% of the squad, giving 100% commitment. Cole doesn't want to be here and doesn't want to play for us. He's not committed to the cause of keeping us in League One, so the sooner he's gone, the better. I'd rather it wasn't to a club who we'll be battling with at the bottom of League One, but if that's the only option...

If he is forced to stay, I doubt if he'll get far in to double figures this season.

I think I agree. He clearly doesn't want to be here. We can forget all that £600k stuff. Nobody is going to pay that for a 28 year old with one good season to his name.

If we can get a third of that as long as we don't sell him to Fleetwood , the money could be used for a striker that will give 100% which is what we need. When I say used I mean to pay his wages mainly.

It's probably down to the owners regarding how much we let him go for. I still think they may well take the transfer fee as a repayment.

So far as Cole's worth is concerned I still think he's a very good striker. I thought the £600,000 was realistic in the beginning as even if he is 28 he's got 2 or 3 good years at league 1 or 2 level. However, clearly no one is willing to pay that amount unless they are 'playing poker' and waiting till it comes down a bit. Derisory offers have been known to be increased when time gets tight. Unfortunately we are not in a position to wait and I'd let him go for half that fee. It still wouldn't guarantee that Derek would have that money to actually buy a replacement.

Very difficult times.

I somehow can't see Cole throwing his toys out of a pram.

For me his best interest is to play his heart out until Christmas and see if a club is prepared to pay a decent sum for him.

I suggested earlier that the club give him an increase is salary as a way of showing him that he is needed at this time.

However I would not link that to an extended contract as this moment in time. Maybe after Christmas when the position is clearer.

As fans we should continue to support Cole as before 'cause in view of the injury situation the club need everybody especially Cole dedicated to the cause.

I appreciate that my views on this matter will not be those of others.

Being off sick... ...it happens.
Handing in a transfer request... ...it happens.

Handing in a transfer request while too sick to come to work? ...N'ah, don't think that happens.

Toys out of pram already.

Maybe it's just me but I'm getting quite bored of all the Stockton transfer stuff

I will just be glad when it's the 1st sept and we can move on with him or another striker whose replaced him

Must admit, after the initial "panic mode" I've become a bit desensitized now,
let's just get on with things.

I think a bit of both. The end of last season, I was really worried in case Stockton went, and wasn't replaced, and hoped he would sign the new contract, committing himself to the club, especially when it is the only one he's ever been successful at.

Now, I really just want to see an end to this. If he goes, so be it, and I'd prefer it to be soon enough to let us bring someone else in, but the situation is likely to be unsettling for everyone.

What I'd really like to see is the owners/directors finding enough cash to bring someone else in, withdraw Stockton's new contract offer, and then if he's not gone by deadline-day, he can sit on the bench, and show off his abilities in the Papa John Trophy.

No Obika in the starting 11 with Arthur and Connolly up front....well DA has to do something.

Surprised that he still will not give Watts a start.

It's getting worse as no Obika or Cooney on bench with 2 goalkeepers.

Quite possible that all 4 have played their last games for Morecambe with the window slamming shut in a week.

More worrying would be, if they aren't wanted, but then don't leave in the next week and we're stuck with players that the manager doesn't want, but no money to bring anyone else in?

Hope these kids are special.

Love that, the transfer window is never allowed to just close, it always seems to have to slam shut. Kind of like how a right foot cannot be a "wand" has to be a "wand of a left foot"

That sounds really impressive, a "right foot" that doubles up as "a wand of a left foot"... ...we could do with signing THAT player before the transfer window slams shut!

Derek's interview, he said there was more "illness" in the camp as well as injury.
