Carson

Looks as if Carson will be leaving Dundee United as they are closing in on signing Zander Clark from St Johnstone! Hypothetically, I wonder what sort of reception Carson and Robinson would get if St Mirren played here in a friendly, as one or two are suggesting on a separate thread?

Carson is a very very good League 1 GK but he is going to take a fair chunk out of Dereks budget. Robinson scrimped on the Goalies last season and it bit him on the arse. Tricky one for Derek.

Carson would get a great reception if he ever returns to Morecambe, no matter who he is playing for.

Robinson got booed at the end of season awards when Derek mentioned him.

Can't see any advantage to either club in organising such a 'friendly'.

So how did that work out then?

Carson will always get a great reception if he returns with another club.

His saves were crucial to us staying up and in particular the one against Oxford in the last minute that saved us 2 points.

I felt let down by Robinson in the manner and timing of his departure. I don't like booing but I certainly wouldn't applaud him.

As much as I'd like to see Mr Carson back at the club full time I doubt it will happen as his wages could take up a significant part of DA's budget.

Not sure about his replacement from what we saw in his only game. Wandered out of his area too often for my liking. Others however seemed happy with his performance on the day.

I think we were happy as we were comparing him to Letheren and Jokul, both of whom had just gone. Carson is in a different league (sorry!) and head & shoulders above them. I can't imagine we'd ever be able to afford someone as good as Carson (except maybe another loanee from a higher league club?). As long as Derek can afford better than Letheren/Jokul we should be fine.

Carson is out with a an injury that St Mirran fans reckon he has struggled with since he arrived from ourselves.

It sounds as though it is a re occurrence of an existing injury that has troubled him for some time.

In his preseason games to date he has struggled with crosses in to the box and sounds as though he has not impressed fans to date.

Sad to read this, we certainly owe him gratitude for his performances here.

Poor fella will be in shell shock from all the crosses that get put in to the box with Robbo as Manager!

Wish him a speedy recovery, his contribution last season was huge.
