Said from season start that it would come down to final game v SunderlandGoing to be a test of our nerves and character both on and off the field.

That Bolton game could cost us and they could decide our fate as they play one of the teams in the relegation mix.

Most fans would have taken the season going down to the last game of the season to be honest !!!

Still in our hands next week

After getting beaten 5 - 0 at Shrewsbury we would have taken this position

I stood on the terrace at Wigan and honestly thought we were done. I said at the time it felt like we were relegated, I think everyone felt the same way. To be top of the pile going in to the last game is a hell of a turn around and we should go in to next week embracing it. What a final day. A full house against Sunderland on May bank Holiday? It's madness. It is nothing like the Cov game a few years back. We were on the brink of non league obscurity playing in front of less than 1000 people a week. We are on the brink of a second season in L1 playing in front of sell outs after probably our best season as Morecambe fans ever.

This week is going to be a strange one!

Sunderland v Rotherham
Morecambe v Sunderland
Gillingham v Rotherham

Promotion & relegation all rolled in to those three games?

Meanwhile...
Sheffield Wednesday need a win on Tuesday to get back in to the play-offs.
We need Sheffield Wednesday to win, to keep Fleetwood below us.

If Sunderland go up automatically, then we're looking at Bolton Wanderers AND Sheffield Wednesday to save us from relegation. If Rotherham win both their games, they go up automatically, and Gillingham are down.

Let's make it simple... COME ON ROTHERHAM!!!

Sky bet now has us as outsiders for relegation at 14/1.
Think that is about right. I don't fancy Gillingham to beat Rotherham or for Fleetwood to get anything at Bolton.
It will be a nervy day but I think we might already have enough points in the bag... Fingers crossed.

I still think there is going to be an unexpected result in the next 7 days to determine relegation. I hope it's us getting points against Sunderland but after yesterday's poor performance I am not sure. What I am sure about is we need to strengthen massively if we are going to be a regular League 1 team. The gulf between us and MK Dons yesterday was massive and I don't think their keeper had a shot to save in the 90 minutes. Another thing I am sure about is the need to improve referees. I thought yesterday's referee was very poor and very one sided giving MK Dons all the 50-50 decisions. Refereeing decisions this season have cost us a lot of points and improvement is needed if the beautiful game is to retain its integrity.

We are in a wee bit of a dangerous position if we don't get the results midweek. I hope regardless Adams gets them firing Saturday and we get at least a point. Crazy to think we could survive on 42 points but I really want more than that.

Even crazier that Fleetwood could survive on 40 points!

It would help us massively if Sunderland beat Rotherham on Tuesday night. If Rotherham win on Tuesday then they will be virtually promoted before they play Gillingham (3 points + 7/8 goals ahead of MKD) and might relax. If Sunderland beat Rotherham on Tuesday then they are confirmed in the play offs and could potentially rest players/relax against us on Saturday.

Spot on. There is no combination of midweek results that makes us safe before Saturday's game but I think Sunderland beating Rotherham would be a massive help.

Sheff. Weds winning at Fleetwood next Tuesday would also be a massive help.

If Sunderland and Sheff Wed win on Tuesday evening the mackems won't be resting any players against us as they still won't be assured of a play off spot

The way we will stay up is if Gillingham or Fleetwood draw or lose their last game (as I think sheff wed will win Tuesday evening)

All if's and but's , we do our job on Saturday and we stay up. We have to go out to win, and I believe we can.

I think a draw on Saturday will be enough, I don't see Gillingham beating Rotherham in the first place but I definitely can't see them winning by 3 goals. Realistically there's a decent chance we could lose on the weekend and stay up, although let's maybe try and avoid going down that route.

I feel like the table doesn't generally lie and teams end up where they deserve to be but we really have been up against it this season. Late start after the playoffs, new manager who had to assemble a squad in record time to compete in a new league, said manager abandons us when things get tough and Derek comes back in with limited time to get us the results we need to keep afloat.

I really believe with a full pre season under Derek and giving him the time and resources to bring in a few players he wants then we can be much more successful in league one next season. A higher finish than say, 15th? I think would be a realistic goal but he might target something more like mid table.

Fleetwood, one win in nineteen games, and that was against Crewe, now have to beat either Sheffield Wednesday or Bolton (or draw with both) to catch us.

Gillingham have to beat Rotherham, having won just one in eight. But, Rotherham have hit a sticky patch and, they lost to Fleetwood recently.

If Sheffield Wednesday win tomorrow, then I think we will be safe, as I don't see Gillingham AND Fleetwood both winning. But, stranger things have happened in football.

A win or draw on Saturday and we're safe, but I don't think us, Fleetwood or Gillingham will pick up any wins in our remaining games.

I could have given this a seperate thread of it's own, 'Pride or Favours'. Put us in Rotherham's position. Would we go out and play to win every game, or go out with weakened teams if it meant a certain team was relegated.

I doubt if Rotherham care who will be relegated, and certainly don't care about us!

If Rotherham win mid-week they could be champions if they beat Gillingham & Wigan lose.
If Rotherham lose mid-week they could miss out on automatic promotion if they don't beat Gillingham.

Either way, Rotherham need to beat Gillingham for themselves.

What's the betting that the one club, it's manager and some fans would love to see us relegated is Bolton. After all the flack and accusations made by them our relegation would be celebrated....and as I posted before they could have a hand in our relegation with their final home game on Saturday....v Fleetwood......

Ian Evatt might be horrible, but in his mind he is a winner. I actually don't think he cares or thinks about us much. It is all in the moment and immediate aftermath stuff with him. His winning mentality and ego would not let him lose at home intentionally at the last home match of the season, even if his best mate was manager of Fleetwood. Bolton will not lose against Fleetwood unless Fleetwood beat or draw with them fair and square.

No matter how many question marks you post
