Martin Foyle

It's well known that DA wasn't too impressed with the Bradford Recruitment Manager and his services where got rid of.

Is Martin Foyle still with us and do we know if DA is likely to secure his services next season or bring his own man in assuming that is the way DA wishes to seek out potential new players next season.

Wonder if we will replace him or not, the board seemed keen to identify prospects with a view to developing them not sure if DA goes along with this as well or if DA will just use contacts to bring in players to do an immediate job.

I think I'm correct in saying that DA had issues at Bratford about a Recruitment Manager being brought in that he didn't wish to deal with.

It could be that DA has his own RM in mind or is more than happy to do all the recruiting himself thereby saving a salary which could go towards giving Cole a substantial wage increase to keep him at the Mazuma which I suspect is a high priority of our excellent manager....and so say all of us.. :!: :!: :!:

In response to Redrobo, whilst I fully understand your logic regrettably under the EFL salary protocols, a saving in management salaries cannot be credit to player salaries, as they are strictly a % of defined income, where as management costs are not scrutinised in the same way

but then Robbo used to say they were players he had been looking at for a while so I am not sure if Foyle was involved or not.

At Bradford DA did get rid of the existing recruitment manager when things were not going very well and replaced him with three regional scouts. Think it may have been Ireland, Scotland and England areas. No one knows how that was working because not long after they gave him the push.

Whether that model is taken on board at Morecambe is anyone's guess!

It would appear that Stephen Robinson is trying to ring fence himself for an early exit from St Mirren, as he has “talked” them into appointing one of his ex players and member of his coaching staff to be Chief Executive!! Nothing against Keith Lasley but never quite saw him as a Chief Executive, always saw him as a coach /manager. They have also confirmed Martin Foyle as head of recruitment, however the cynic in me would suggest he was sat in the back of Robbo’s car on his first journey up the motorway to Paisley!!

Derek said Foyle put his notice in so he could go to another club and has been working his notice. The club paid Northampton compensation when he joined us.

In which case why can't we ask for compensation from his new club.

As long as he doesn’t come sniffing around our better players,
there are a few he can have,
but to be honest I cannot see a lot of people knocking the door down to grab them

We just need to tie down our better players or who DA thinks can do the job

Mixed feelings about this one.

If 'Tin Foyle had a hand in the recruitment of Carson, Fane, Bennett, Bedeau and Connolly then we should at least thank him for that... all 5 are now starting regularly, so he's pretty much had involvement in signing half a starting XI - and the team looks a lot better because of it.

Ultimately though you have to look at Stephen Robinsons conduct throughout his time at Morecambe and conclude that we are well shut of Robbo, as he is clearly a complete and utter shithouse. I think The Oxford English Dictionary should be contacted to update their definition of 'disloyal'. I am more disappointed in Diarmuid O'Carroll - he would make a perfect used car salesman.

We have bigger things to worry about at the moment, partly due to the failings of Robbo as first team manager - something Paris St Mirren are now discovering. He left us in a horrendous position, was given everything he wanted, was allowed to sign his mates to positions of influence within the management structure, bring in the players he wanted (many of whom are not good enough, and have multiple years left on their contracts) and also got rid of people that he did not want - who were loyal and actually cared about the club. All the while the fans cheered his name one defeat after the next, and thought he was the guy for us - even if he got us relegated. We now learn that we paid compensation to bring one of his pals here - and that effectively the club has been paying Foyles wages from the point when Robbo left up until recently. In reality whatever Foyle has been working on is of absolutely no use to Morecambe FC going forward - and may be for the benefit of his new employers in Paisley.

Scum, subhuman scum.

Subhuman scum is an Alan Partridge reference for comedy effect.

In reality I do think Stephen Robinson is a selfish coward with a propensity to leave roles when things look dicey to save the credibility of his of limited managerial CV. You can't discuss the 'Tin Foyle situation without mentioning Robbo - its all linked. You'd like to think that this latest departure would finally draw a line under the situation - but sadly he will be sniffing around the players he brought in that he got right that ultimately we want to keep. I am just waiting for the magnanimous prick to try and claim some credit if we do stay up, or worse proclaim that he "always knew they'd survive" if King Derek gets the job done.

Like I said - we have bigger fish to fry over the course of the next week, the departure of Robbos pal does not really have an impact on that and should not distract us from the importance of upcoming fixtures.

When "Morecambe FC The movie" does get made, Steve Coogan would be great cast as Robbo :D

Connolly signed 18 months contract to Summer 2023 so we will keep him.

Carson lives in Barnard Castle so the journey to the Mazuma is a lot easier time wise than to St Mirran (assuming that it is they who are interested in signing him.

I seem to recall in an interview that the travel to our Stadium enabled him to be more of a family man being able to take his daughter to school as an example in a morning. So assuming we can do a deal with Dundee can't see any reason for him to leave other than DA not wanting him.

Fingers and toes crossed...

In the interview, he spoke very highly of Robinson and the support he gave him on a personal basis, so that may come in to it too. But I agree, travel time from family may be a big factor. I certainly hope he can come to us, he's an excellent keeper.

I think that the current starting eleven would all be worth keeping next season. Phillips can still frustrate and drift out of games, but even he plays better with Adams in charge and hopefully would improve further. We've the basis of a good League One squad next season, if we survive these next two matches.
